Okay, I'm pretty much terrified at this point.

I've been playing Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance on and off lately, but in the last few games I've had my screen go black briefly before returning to the game, with a "display driver has stopped working" message in the bottom right-hand corner of the taskbar.

Using RivaTuner to monitor my temperatures, I didn't find anything wrong and in fact it seemed that my temperatures were actually lower than expected for maximum load (78C, when I've experienced up to 90C in games like Dragon Age: Origins during parts with high spell effects).

The problem hasn't occurred in my recent forays into Starcraft II as well, so I'm not sure what to think.

Someone posted a thread with similar problems (at least initially), but they said that things progressed quickly into serious artifacts onscreen and eventually to total graphics card failure.

I've since stopped playing Forged Alliance (and most games altogether thanks to a slightly busy time at Uni) but I'm still fairly concerned. This system is supposed to last me until next June/July at the least, when Ivy Bridge and Kepler are hopefully out in full form on Clevo notebooks.

    Help! (Please?)

    EDIT: My system specs:

    Sager NP8662
    P9700 @ 2.8 GHz
    nVidia GTX 260M (650/1625/910)

    EDIT 2:

The overclock was done roughly two years ago with the aid of nvflash and Furmark to check for stability. I got no artifacts after a 12+ minute Furmark run, with max temperatures around 82 or 85C when testing. The laptop has been run on a Zalman NC2000 for the last year and a half; the cooler has been set to run at maximum speed whenever the laptop is turned on.

Seems as though your card is unfortunately dying. Drop the overclock and test game some more on Supreme Commander, if you go error free it just means your card can no longer handle the overclock
