    Hello everybody,

I've just put in an order for Clevo 17" with a 1680x1050 "non-glare" display. Having seen what 1920x1200 looks like in 17" i thought it's much too many DPI for my personal taste, and it also means less pixels for my GPU to calculate when running at native resolution.

So far so good.. now, I wonder what the difference between "non glare" and "glare type" are with Clevo's? I read some reviews and I was confused. Also I think the panel was changed.. On a review of an older model (w/7950GTX) they raved about the display 19200x1200 Glare, saying it's super bright, on a newer review of the machine w/8700M GT they say it's so dim to be barely usable.

So.. has Clevo changed the displays? Who makes these panels? And what's the main difference between a glare type vs. non glare type?

    Yours truly, fellow laptop nerd,

    - Stefan Mechanik

The glare type, or glossy is a little more bright than the standard screen, but when a light source is behind you, or you`re out in plain daylight, you won`t see a thing on the screen, whereas the 'matte' display ,even though being less bright , not by much,is not disturbing in stronger light sources.
I have 2 laptops, 1 with glare, 1 without, and I would not take the glare one outside in daylight, no point...
