a week out from the games release (sept 14th) i have broken my new rule of not pre-ordering games.
divinity original sin was a absolutely superb game and easily slotted into my top 5 games of all time, so i have very high hopes for the next instalment, looking at dev posts the game has improved on every aspect of D-OS and the recently released final class of "undead" looks super fun.
any one else planning on playing the game, the co-op options look like heaps of fun.
here's a couple of YouTube vids for those that haven't heard of or seen game-play footage.

I liked DOS combat, but I felt the story was a bit lackluster. I also didn't finish it, because the camera positioning was awful, couldn't stand playing it anymore.
Coincidentally I loved Pillars Of Eternity story, but disliked the combat...
I am, however, tempted to buy this one. I heard Chris Avellone was one of the story writers. Good story + combat = win. Just wonder if they ever fixed the camera... -
im not sure about the camera to be honest, i have heard that the story is much more deep and rewarding, with much more character development and investment, as well as that, all 1200 npc's are going to have full voice over.......remembering this is a $45 game, that's kinda impressive.

I'm buying it tonight to play early access. I'll let you know how it goes. I see no reason why it wouldn't beat all expectations at this point. It's the only experience of it's kind. They set the bar high but i just know they can re-raise.

Hmmm, seems that GoG has a nice refund policy. I might grab it and see how I like it. -
I didn't play enough to warrant a full impression. So far its good but I'm only a few minutes in. Everything is smoother than first game, that's all I can say.
My friend tried to play with me using MS Surface Pro 4 and suffice to say that is not enough hardware. Original Sin could run on anything but those days might be over. -
all and all playing a few hours early access has wet my palate and im really looking forward to full release later in the week. -

Played DOS2 for a little bit over one hour, I purchased it just before my bedtime.
So far too early to draw any conclusions, but I do like the improvements on UI Larian did.
The game looks very pretty, combat is pretty much the same, though this time around I started the game on Explorer difficulty. DOS on Classic difficulty was sometimes too difficult for me (I blame modern video games).
Will play today a bit, but probably gonna hold off really playing until the final release. -

I've been getting a lot of crashes on Alt-Tabbing. Hope devs have fixed it for the full release.
Otherwise I'm quite enjoying the game. -
i haven't experienced any crashes yet and have been running it in windowed......waiting on full release, its already mid morning on the 14th here so im guessing its "America 14th" not region 14th......oh well

So, who choose which character to play?
I went with Lohse, because she's insane -
im playing on classic mode with a custom archer.........so far the full release game is superb, love the voice acting and the story is much more dark and complex...........
so far im very impressed, the voice acting is fantastic, and i can already see a much more rich, dark and complex story-line.Last edited: Sep 14, 2017killkenny1 likes this. -

I'm playing enchanter on Explorer mode, because Classic mode is a bit too much for me. So far I just completed the tutorial (again) and went around Fort Joy where I found a few companions. Gonna play some more tomorrow! -
God help me, the character creator is always my most difficult enemy.
Anyone wanna help me build a melee focused Geomancer? -
in saying that the game is hugely addictive, im having a blast with the game, and find myself saying "just one more quest" often......the story is vastly improved, the origin stories are really interesting and the game is thoroughly fulfilling. -

Yup same here. This is why sometimes I dislike games like these. You need to carefully point into skills/talents/etc. as well as choose your party.
For now I roll as enhancer together with Red Prince, Sebbile, and Ifan (I use their default classes), though I would like to have a dwarf in my party, just because they are cool. Fane would be also good to have, simply because he can lockpick without the need of lockpicks and because his origin story was written by Chris Avellone.
Man, I wish we could have a party of six people... -

So, I killed like half of fort joy lol, wonder if I'm on the right path

Seems to be I've encountered a few quest related bugs...
-
yeap there are definitely a few quest bugs ive found too, Larian studio are working on them, most are not a big deal, you get xp but it doesn't "complete" but a few are bad......im still loving the game though, its brilliant.

Yeah, this game is amazeballs!
However, I'm thinking about taking a break, until some bugs are fixed, and maybe starting over again...after spending 22 hours already in... -

Great game, if you like something similar then try "Tyranny".

Did you happen to wonder into a room full of magisters about to transform an elf into one of those guard thingies?
It them tits up for me, they transformed her into whatchamacallit, but I wonder if there was a dialogue option to save her.
Definitely a strongest contender for a GOTY this year. -
yes the fight with the justice dude, i couldnt find an option to save her from turning into a silent monk, i even teleported the justice dude into his bedroom to kill him from there, he insta transformed her, so i think its scripted.....which makes sense as its a kinda important storyline, explaining what has been happening to all the "missing sources"

I still haven't finished Pillars Of Eternity, despite even owning the two expansions.
Obsidian crafts great stories, but the combat is too confusing. All my fights end end in a huge pile of people fighting each other...Beemo likes this. -

Seems like the new patch fixed one the quest's issue.

i guess all i have to say is 92 hrs played, just started act 3.....
i cant remember enjoying a game as much as i am this one.......from start to now its brought, joy, sadness, laughs, and rage.....brilliant.

I just left Fort Joy. Decided fudge it, let the bugged quests be "failed" and continue my game. Surprisingly some of them closed properly once I left Fort Joy.

Pet Pal has to be one of the most epic skills. I just received a quest from...

I just finished my first play-through, did nearly everything i could find and clocked in around 115hours,, the game was fantastic, ill take a bit of a break from it now and then try it again on the hardest difficulty.......
the only real fault i found with the game was the reverse difficulty system, it got easier and easier as i progressed, its not really a big deal, that's very typical of this type of game, as you unlock more and more skills, get better gear etc the game does get easier, i was hoping that npc's would scale more with you....
anyways loved the game, sensational......
on a side note, a big patch dropped today addressing a lot of the issues with the game. -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Oh,m you weren't joking when you said big patch is dropping. Just launched GoG Galaxy and it's downloading almost 5GB.
Currently I am still in Driftwood. Still have plenty of stuff to do! -
Any of you guys have any of your characters fight with a Staff? I'm trying to figure out if my Geomancer goes 2H sword, or to a 2H staff.
I''m thinking staff, since they use the INT stat, does that make sense?Last edited: Oct 8, 2017 -

So is there a use for empty soul jars or I can just sell them?
Also, just received the third source point and what the hell:
lost the Pet Pal perk! Gah!!!Last edited: Oct 11, 2017 -
and i only used source two or three times in the whole game.......
why the hell, ohhh hold on did you spec into something that overrides petpal? -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
I remember I used the source jars because I needed some source points for the quest, without realizing you could get source from puddles (before Larian removed them) and also without realizing they could be used for other purposes (though hopefully I used one jar for properly).
I thought maybe the empty source jars could be refilled, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Oh well, I guess I sell them not to clutter my inventory.
Do you maybe know how much/maximum amount of source can one character hold at once.
There are different ways to learn source point on Reaper's Coast. I completed On The Ropes quest and went back to Hannag. She agreed to teach me, but together with getting an additional source point, all animals would be killed in the game, hence removing Petpal.
Once I realized that, I reloaded the game and decided to earn the source point the other way. Petpal is just too awesome to lose. -
you can unlock a maximum of 3 source slots and there are several different people you can learn them from, i didn't do the one that killed the animals, i think i did the dude in the graveyard house/mansion, the elf questline and the woman in the town.
