I'm looking at getting a Dell M1210 that is 2GHz Duo and a Go 7400 (after deciding that x1100 notebooks weren't gunna be worth it!) It has 64MB dedicated and 192MB shared. How much of a performance increase in graphics would I get if I upgraded from 1GBDDR2 to 2GBDDR2 in terms of a percentage? Wondering whether it's worth it for gaming. I would be happy with average to good settings on games like Doom3, Quake 4 etc. An educated guess would be appreciated!![]()
Also are the graphics cards updateable on this Dell model as I hear that some Dell notebooks cards can be updated!
Cheers

Gamers are best off with 2GB of RAM. I don't think you are necessairly going to see a performance difference between 1 & 2GB of RAM per se, but the game will run smoother with 2GB. Some games will use several hundred megabytes of memory, and thus you may be using more than 1GB. When that happens, the system has to use the Page File on the hard drive for virtual RAM, which is extremely slow.

what chaz said, but if you don't have to, don't buy from dell, get 2 gigs from new egg, much cheaper.
Do I need more DDR2 ram for a Go 7400 256MB (64MB/192MS)
