This game is an unplayable mess. When I (and numerous others who were unfortunate enough to buy this) try to launch the game, it sticks forever (over an hour before I task-managered it) at the "synchronizing" screen and does not let me into the game. I have tried reinstalling, manually adding a firewall exception, disabling MSE, running the .exe directly with admin rights, and pretty much all manner of suggestions people on various forums have made with no success.
About the only "workaround" people have been getting results with is by torrenting the game and cracking the DRM, which seems to be the cause of this problem. I have never had an issue with DRM preventing me from using something that I've bought and paid for, but I wish I had known of these issues before dropping my $25 on this yesterday.

Haha can't say I blame you. I recently started getting securom crashes with Codemasters F1 2010 until I did what every pirate does was to bypass the DRM. Rule of thumb for me is to buy the game and give the developer the benefit of the doubt. If I have issues running the game with the DRM I proceed to drop the anchor matey.

I have had non working games in my last two game purchases and one was caused due to the activation server blocking my IP address and the other was due to DRM in the game. The only people who suffer are legit customers.
Thanks for the headsup, I have had enough of DRM problems and don't need desire to waste more time searching forums for fixes or contacting tages, GFWL or Steam support. -
thank god i haven't

I picked up L.A. Noire at release, been very good so far, I did have an issue where the game would take forever at syncing too, maybe 3 to 4 minutes. That ended after the last patch, then Skyrim came out, and all other games ceased to exist.
-
Just don't buy it. Play Skryim instead
-
It's too bad that the DRM is so onerous and poorly implemented, because it really is a fantastic game.
-
Besides the DRM problems etc. I find this game to be excellent! Incredible facial expressions, very immersive atmosphere, very detailed and well done game overall. Running it max settings, 720p no AA and it runs very well, with occasional slowdown in fps when driving in very congested areas.

Boycott L.A. Noire!
Is it your dream to work in game development? I'm sure it was for many who worked on L.A. Noire.
It was better to be unemployed with no other job to go to than it was to work on L.A. Noire.
- Long hours without due compensation. Dumb deadlines and 12 hour work days. This has been investigated by authorities.
- The long hours the employees suffered were due to terrible management, stupid decisions, poor scheduling and high turn-over. Each time someone left, work was turned over to someone else who then had to work 2-3-4 jobs unable to figure out what needs to be done. Over 100 employees left L.A. Noire development.
- Team Bondi's method of employment was to employ junior level employees and work them until they quit. Burn them to the ground instead of hiring better qualified employees, giving them the wages they deserve with reasonble working conditions. Employees were expendable. They created jobs even below junior so they could pay people less and work them harder.
- High turn-over rate.
- Over 100 developers not credited for their work
- Terrible working conditions
- Team Bondi when they closed shop owed over a 1 million to developers of the game in un-paid wages.
- Brendan McNamara initially squandered tens of millions in funding to the point Sony refused to publish due to his irresponsible decisions in 2005. Game picked up by Rockstar and can see Rockstar no longer wants to associate with him either after they took over much of the operations and development of the game later.
- Brendan McNamara has no concept of working as a team. He has no concept that the games he directs are not his, but the work of a collective team. He did not make the game. The team did. He is nothing without them. He's a , of enormous proportions.
- Brendan McNamara showed no respect for his management team and the leads. He made decisions solo without asking if the idea is even feasible.
Also note, L.A. Noire IP is owned by Rockstar. McNamara the who ran Team Bondi will unlikely be part of a sequel if there is one. Hopefully he burned his bridges.

Here is something to think about when you hand over your hard earned money, money earned while being treated as a human being, where you are compensated fairly for your work, where you enjoy working... For many employees who worked on L.A. Noire, they worked between 80-110 hours a week and never received any monetary compensation for their overtime.

Facing the same issue.
Installation went smooth as butter, but when I tried to launch the game, the Launch box appeared on the screen, I clicked on the Launch button, hoping that another screen will appear asking for the activation code, but thats it, nothing happens. The game never starts.
Does anybody have a fix on that now?
It feels really frustrating to have purchased a game and not being able to play it!!!! Damn!!!
Please help guys if anyone has a solution to the above problem.
Thanks. -
lol dont play la noire. funny
this game is great, alot of fun. how can you recommend people to not play the game? -
It's hard to recommend a game that I can't play due to DRM.
-
I changed the values to what I wanted them to be while gaming, and fixed some of the values that were being used when browsing etc. and were causing random driver crashes.
