I'm just curious what the gaming community here thinks. In a FPS game, do you like having perks, unlocks, and/or stats? Would you be upset if the game did not have them?

It's the same thing as that Xbox GamerScore or PS3 Trophies.
Gives a sense of progression & nothing more.
I've never cared for it. -
Its a cool feature but overdoing it usually break balance between new players and old players of the game.
The solution for that in BF3 is to just buy to unlock but they are mad to charge it for so much though. D;
Achievements i do approve on as they dont really affect the game that much. -
I love it when a big ole achievement pops up and covers my entire screen and some awesome soundbyte plays as I just did something absolutely unimpressive. It makes me feel accomplished.

When it comes to unlocks, almost everyone is doing it for themselves with complete disregard to teamwork and objectives in order to unlock stuff. You're working hard to unlock these weapons and what not, and expect the enemy to do the same, but is this fun?
When it comes to individual stats, such as K/D, people tend to become obsessed with them (stat padding for example, which may incentivize cheating/hacking).
I just wonder if developers think adding these features will improve the online gaming experience. CoD started this trend and BF3 reinforced it. Other FPS games may join them. These things tend to make people greedy and it really ruins the fun factor in FPS games. That's my take.

Meh, it's alright, but it definitely doesn't make the game. In MW3 specifically it can be annoying at times actually.
