Hi guys & gals,
I believe this topic has been discussed many times in here in the past, but as it seems some folks bought Crysis for the first time during the sale the other day, I thought maybe we could discuss this again.
I played Crysis on my desktop about two years ago, but I got the Steam version for my laptop.
As you may know, the Steam version of Crysis is 32 bit. I usually don't care if I'm running the games either in 32 bit or 64 bit as long as games run fine. And I'm not sure if running the games in 64 bit improves gaming performance.
But, when I entered "Onslaught", I started having an audio pops issue. So, I decided to tweak a bit. I followed the instruction posted @ Steam Crysis forum.

Now, audio pops are gone.![]()
If you guys encounter the audio pops issue, you might want to try this tweak.

Heh, interesting tweak. I use mods that modify the audio and visuals anyhow. And yes I played in 64 bit, non-steam version.

Interesting change in post LOL.
Anyways I was gonna say there is nothing stopping steam from launching a 64 bit application and if the files are there the tweak should work. But I could predict a problem with game data verification and after reading the thread it seems there have been a few problems there.
I played the DVD version so never had the problem. Think i got it with Warhead and Crysis Wars for 20 bucks. I dont like the idea of buying steam games if i dont have to. -
I play on win 7 64 bit on Steam and don't notice any problem whatsoever.

I dont think that has anything todo with 64 bit Crysis. Though occasionally 64 bit OS's or drivers have been known to cause problems with a game

For me at least, running in 64 bit gives me 5-10 extra fps compared to running in 32-bit. Valve's BS reasons be d@mned.

I misread his post.

I misread his post. It's not that interesting.

Probably more interesting on my end. I quoted it after i read the original post. After writing my post I looked up and was like.... thats not what i quoted lol. I never could figured out what NBR's settings are for showing edits but I guess its not view based, time based instead. -
I just checked the FPS in 64-bit using Fraps. It seems to be about 5 fps gain on my end.
Settings: Medium (shadow on low), no AA @ 1366 x 768 laptop's native resolution. The results are what I expected. Not good enough for Crysis. When I played Crysis many moons ago on my previous desktop w/4870, I think I was getting at least 10 fps more. I wish I had a 5870.
Fraps log:
2010-12-30 15:27:03 - crysis64
Frames: 3812 - Time: 80832ms - Avg: 47.160 - Min: 30 - Max: 71
2010-12-30 15:31:03 - crysis64
Frames: 1137 - Time: 30308ms - Avg: 37.515 - Min: 25 - Max: 58

Still good stuff dude, I can barely play it, but it is playable.

of all the games i usually play its crysis and warhead that are not playable in my 64bit, its a good thing i have to fresh install my OS due to some virus.

Thanks. When things get crazy, fps drops to 25 though. But, still enjoyable. And the 64-bit tweak I applied has been working just fine so far on my end. I think it's safe to try it as you can always revert back to 32-bit if it doesn't work or you don't like it.
I'm just wondering how those folks who just bought Crysis for the first time the other day are doing. Hope they are enjoying the game. -
When I first played it about 6 months ago, I loved it. There's just something special about engaging cloak mode, sneaking up behind some commie , and blowing his head off with a 12-gauge
Do you run Crysis (Steam) in 64 bit?
