I really want to play it, but it has integrated graphics. My other PC is more powerful, but doesn't have nearly as much memory.
specs for both:
Acer notebook:
Core 2 Duo 1.3ghz (SU7300)
4GB ram
Intel GMA 4500MHD
Win 7 x64
Old desktop:
P4 3.07ghz HT
1GB ram
Radeon HD 4650 1GB
WinXP

Ouch, those are brutal... the only thing your desktop has going for it is the gpu. I don't think you'll be able to play it even on the 2D mode, it's one of the few games that are actually recommending a quadcore now. http://forum.notebookreview.com/gam.../507658-system-requirments-civ5-official.html
-
Don't think there's any way the notebook could run it?
-
They ***RECOMMEND*** a quad core which means for optimal performance. I'm sure it will run otherwise.
Minimum requirements are a dual core CPU and i3 integrated graphics, which are pretty much your laptop specs. I'm hoping to be able to play it on my netbook also which has similar specs, SU4100 1.3GHz Pentium dual core (same as SU7300 just a little less cache), 2GB DDR3, Intel GMA 4500MHD (650MHz GPU), Win 7 x86.
Your desktop *might* be able to play it considering the CPU has hyperthreading and might be considered two CPU's like the i3/i5/i7's. -
I'll give it a shot. Worst case scenario I get Civ 3 to tide me over till I get a new PC next year. Even though I already own Civ 3. Hm.
Is 650mhz the default clock of the GMA 45000MHD? I thought it was significantly lower, ~400mhz.
Also how's Steam work with your netbook? I'm wary of putting Steam or Impulse on mine, I've never used them before. -
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
I have a 4500M which runs @ 475Mhz when the stated clock is only 400Mhz
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500M -
hm
I get a 3.2 in WinSAT with it. -
Run gpu-z and it will tell you your GPU clocks. Mine is at 650MHz which is pretty impressive.
-
humh...
It says GPU Clock is 640MHz, but Default clock is 475MHz.
It also says it had 64MB of Memory. That's not correct. It's integrated and has no dedicated VRAM, as far as I know. It accesses up to 1695MB of system memory according to the specs, though.
Maybe it's just using 64mb to run Aero Glass?
Anyway the fill rate is 6.4 giga pixels/polys, which seems like a lot to someone who's used to using a seven year old PC like me.
-
Yeah, the memory size will change depending on its usage. It may just default to 64MB for Windows 7 Aero.
-
Oh yeah, and I posted this in another thread a while back, but will here too just for the sake of it. Good news for IGP users:
Civ 5: Scalable System Requirements
"This model also allows Civ 5 to run on integrated graphics including most modern notebooks and computers that do not have an independent graphics card, at an acceptable framerate. The game has been extensively tested and tweaked for these lower end systems, so it should run out of the box." -
Thanks for the info, excellent news.
Good job Sid/Firaxis. Maybe now we can talk about your questionable decision to make the Three Gorges Disaster a wonder.
Do you think my Acer 1810T could run Civ 5?
