The 4650 is more of a midrange card, so I'm not sure I'd call it a "gaming" notebook.
As to wether or not it can run the games you listed, try doing some reading in the "can my notebook run it?" sticky. -
I would call it decent. You will be able to run average games on high and demanding games on medium, and you should be able to run any game for two years or so. At that point, I would expect the dual core and 4650 would start to show their age.
-
>.> 4650 should be able to handle any current game at 720p resolution with highish settings.
-
Looks like a nice portable gaming computer, it it really is a 14.1" screen.
-
Technically the laptop is decent and will perform well, but the 14" screen stops me from calling it a decent gaming laptop.
-
mine has same card and processor but bigger screen..main reason why i bought it...coz i love gaming on college campus. -

Mosltly I would care about the resolution, 14.1" is fine if its got a nice res.
4650 DDR3 is a nice card for midrange and can play titles like left 4 dead 2. -
the 4650 DDR3 will play a lot better games than just left for dead 2... thats pretty low standard

Lol thats a pretty pimped CPU and ram in your rig there compared to the GPU spaghetticheese.
I do mean running left 4 dead 2 at nice details and a very nice frame rate. I tend to be quite picky.
Are you using a program like memset to get the most out of the ram? I found my motherboard got the CAS etc right but set quite a high TRD memory timing (quite important). -
ye i know, its a bit at a time mate. i gotta save money before i can attempt to get a better one in, is a bit uneven at the mo. but i've oc'd the balls out of the hd2400, and runnin bioshock on med-high settings at 1024x768, which is good enough for me on that card atm
-
That looks like an Asus.
If it is....then its the same one I'm getting my sister for portability and performance.
Go for it! anyone telling you otherwise should be on a desktop. -

Btw I am not kidding about the TRD:

11 -> 8 = over 10% more bandwidth. -
The laptop in question is a fairly decent gaming laptop indeed.
The 4650 GDDR3 at stock clocks should be slightly better when compared to my own 9600m GT GDDR3 if I'm not mistaken.
I overclocked my gpu by 20% and undervolted it btw.
My performance got up nicely and temperatures are at 60 degrees C under load (for both the cpu/gpu).
It's capable of running modern games in maxed out res under medium/high settings (for the most part).
Well, at least for me, Dragon Age seems to be running just fine maxed out (that was before the overclock), and that's an example of a game that can be perceived as 'heavy'.
Unless you have laptop on offer with a gpu that is much better in a similar price range, go with this laptop.

if u don't mind me asking i don't wanna stray away from the subject (anymore than i already have), Deks is ur graphics card an upgrade? i am a bit worried about compatibility with my extensa....

I merely overclocked it by 20% via Nvidia control panel recently (was about time anyway), and reduced it's voltage to 0.89 (through gpu BIOS flashing - I uv-ed it months ago).
According to this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=396320
your laptop appears to have MXM II slot.
There is a good possibility that the 9600m GT (GDDR 3) will work just fine since it's MXM II, though you will have to make some further inquiries because these things aren't always so cut and dry.
Check the forums for some info if people with your model tried to upgrade the gpu by any chance.
I think it should work ... but don't hold me on that. -

yeah pretty much a decent laptop

I'd give it a thumbs up considering the graphics horsepower within the form factor.
