Is it just me or DoD map loading time takes like forever. My HDD is 100GB 5400RPM and works fine for other programs...but in DoD the HDD works A LOT and it's very annoying to wait between maps like that.

I've checked for viruses, spyware and everything looks good do I believe it's Valve's fault!!!

what processor and internet connection do you have? Those will affect the loading speed alot more than your hard drive speed/space.

    Mobile A64 4000+ (2.6Ghz)...shouldn't be a problem :D
    ATI X600
    512kb/s DSL internet connection
    1GB RAM

I really don't think the internet connection speed could affect loading performance since I see the HDD working like crazy loading the maps...and those maps a locally stored, not downloaded each time. And 512 isn't that bad either...with CS:CZ it works fine.

It's just me then? I kind of hope this is normal for DoD and others are also waiting 2-3 minutes between maps.

I know the first time I played a new map on DoD:S it took along time to load, but after that inital loading the first time I played it was pretty fast. I have a 10MB/s Cable connection so its blazing, it may be your connection speed. And you might see your hard drive working like crazy because when you download things it does, just try playing a map you already have and see if it takes as long.

have you defragmented lately? If a file is spread across your disk, it has to work a lot harder to read it in. New maps and such, if they're big, could be severely fragmented.
