This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Does PunkBuster even work? My suspicion is no, just like Valve's anti-cheat program.

    I know for korean MMOs, Game Guard is popular and every game with Game Guard has massive cheating, hacking and botting...

    VAC works, and so does PB. Except VAC is a delayed-ban so it appears to work less consistently as PB. That being said VAC isn't nearly half as annoying with false positives as PB is (case-in-point an IRC user was able to cause mass-PB-bans simply by posting in IRC chat text strings that were mistaken by PB as part of a virus in memory)

    i gotten banned from VAC, so it sure works, had to rebuy all my valve games
