Im not sure reading the tech req page it does not mention it but I have seen a lot of forum posts saying that it only works with 32bit...Surely Bethesda would not do this!?

Thanks guys, think I am going to buy this disc version. Expensive though! But I heard the DLC is some of the best in the industry and adds a lot to the game.

Works fine, the DLC's are great too, the only one i didn't really like was Mothership Zeta, it got a bit tedious.

I don't have any of the DLC, but Fallout 3 (retail disk version) works for me on Windows 7 Home Premium x64.

I bought the Steam version and it works great, they also removed Games For Windows LIve, which is a huge plus. The DLC is good too, my personal favorite was Point Lookout. I had heard Mothership Zeta was bad, but I found it ok, level design was a little odd, but still fun. At least the DLC changes that ridiculous ending.

Yeah, now it is just an option on Steam, no longer mandatory. XD Should have bought it on sale, I got it for $19. I thought why not? Even though I already bought the Collector's Edition. Bought Oblivion GOTY as well, even though I already have it (Not DLCs though).

fwiw i have had nothing but issues with this. it was locking up at first then i used the fix by adding a line to the config file. then it worked fine while i was in the vault as soon as i got to the megaton and did all of my business there, it crashes every 2-3 minutes. i cant find a viable fix as of yet.

I know there was an issue with the game handling quad core systems...when I started playing I would get random freezes every 5 min or so. I googled 'fallout 3 quad-core fix', found a solution and it went away.

I don't remember experiencing any crash on m11x, and I played through all DLC except Mothership Zeta.

    Amazing game.

I've had plenty of crashes with my ATI 4870 X2, but no issues with my 9600 GT in my laptop.

Try the Fallout 3 Tweak Guide:

    TweakGuides.com - Fallout 3 Tweak Guide

Go through the three "Advanced Tweaking" pages which mess around with the game settings .ini files. Hopefully, some of the tweaks might fix your game crashes/freezes. It's worth a shot, don't miss out on Fallout 3, it's a good game.
