I found it difficult at times... eventually I never finished it b/c I didn't have the patience or the time, but I found it extremely fun at times yet extremely frustrating at times.

I think it is definitely a good RTS with great gameplay, just sometimes more suited for the more advanced or veteran RTS players.

I just started RTS games in the summer so I was overwhelmed at the later levels.

its a challanging game. one that hasn't been dumbed down. it gets even harder when you play actual people that know what they are doing.

i play it quite regularly and have finished the normandy and market garden campaigns. not the caen one as i don't like the british units (sif sit back and camp). it is a really good lan game, and multiplayer is where it shines.

what part do you find frustrating? the AI anti tank spam?

Holy crap, the AI AT gun spam is ridiculous. My friends and I play regularly play against Expert CPU's and we simply cannot handle Expert American AI. The enormous amount of AT guns is simply impossible now that snipers aren't guaranteed to kill them off. We've only managed to hold our lines with mass infantry spam as all the German tanks are rendered useless (except maybe the King Tiger and Jagdpanther which are beasts), but we eventually lose because of the Sherman spam that follows.

Company of Heroes can be very intense multiplayer and against the bots (the Expert cheats just in case you didn't know :p). That said, were the bot response times nerfed or bots just nerfed period post v1.5? I remember having a much harder time against the Expert bot.

Company of Heroes has got a lot of depth to it that I haven't been interested in lately. I much prefer (at this point), Relic's other RTS series Dawn of War. Many of the basic concepts (control points, etc) are shared, but I find Dawn of War does things in such a way as to make things a little bit more instantly gratifying and also logically counterable.

I clocked it over the weekend... I love it, it's challenging yet it kept me interested.

I must admit that personally I don't really like WW2 games (whether it's FPS or RTS or watever), I'm more of a semi-futuristic fan but Company of Heroes really got me into WW2 stuff and I actually bought a model of Sherman Crocodile (flamethrower tank) cos that's probably one of the most kick-ass tank ever made.

Anyway, CoH is definitely one the only " X of X " series out there (Medal OF honor, Day OF Defeat , Gears OF War) that really entertained me, as for a good FPS counterpart, Call OF duty4 is a fantastic " X of X " title.

    XD

    Frustating, yes, hate it....definitely not!

For real frustrating head melt, play the D-Day co-op campaign (either with friends, or 2 AI allies) - you have to defend the beaches from allied invasion, and it gets so ridiculously hard. There's an easier version released for latest patches though, the original version is the truly hard one!

Agreed. I'm really hoping they'll make a DoW2 taking some of the cool bits from CoH (vehicle damage is awesome in CoH, and cover is a lot more detailed as well)

DoW is my favorite RTS, but CoH is good fun as well

yeah the single player campaign was very challenging but at the same time some of the best ever featured in an RTS game(alongside Age of Mythology), the Carentan counterattack mission and the mission where you have to build defences around a hill( i the town of mortain or something) and defend it against a huge german assault(in both night and daytime) were the best in the campaign, it really made me feel pressed and surrownded and i felt like i had to think on my feet....it simply had some of the most tense moments i've ever had in a game..

I wish Dawn of War was as good as Company of Heroes. I really like both, but compared to CoH Dawn of War isn't as strategically indepth. Dawn of War based on the CoH engine would be killer!

I've enjoyed CoH a lot, but find multiplayer a mixed bag.
Firstly, Relic Online is not the best platform. Sure, GameSpy has its issue, but... well, I've had more problems with Relic's own system.
Anyway, it seems to me that with CoH you either match up against n00bs, or you're pitted against guys who have been playing since Day 1, and pwn. Horribly. In nasty places.
I find DoW scales a bit better, and there seems to be some middle ground, although this may be more dependent on the Match Up.

I love Company of Heroes, it is a change of pace from all the other RTS games i played. Single never finished it, im on the last level and it is freakin hard and I like how you have to multi-task like crazy... Now I just want to see Company of Heroes in the same universe like COD4.
