We are having some discussion in the Samsung forum about the continuing lack of PowerPlay support for the X1700 GPU in the NP-X60 plus. It would appear that Samsung aren't in any hurry to get this feature working.

Does anyone, with any brand of notebook with the X1700, have PowerPlay working?

ATI claim that PowerPlay 6 is a key feature of this GPU. To quote:

    PowerPlay™ 6.0
ATI’s Mobility™ Radeon® X1700 enables high performance-per-watt operation and longer battery life with mobile-specific features for notebook PCs. ATI’s PowerPlay™ 6.0 power management technology features Power-On-Demand™ clock gating, dynamic voltage control, and x16-to-x1 PCIe lane control, and includes user-selected Performance, Balanced, and Battery power modes to deliver flexible control of AC/DC power.

Is it ATI who haven't yet developed PowerPlay 6, or is Samsung who don't have the inclination to implement any changes needed to get it working?

    Thanks in advance,

    John

My A8Jp has the Powerplay working. It clocks down to about 100Mhz something. Thanks to it, my battery life can stretch to about 2 1/2 hours.
