Does anyone have an educated guess for the arrival of HD8970/GTX 780m?

I feel like replacing my G73jh and should have most of $1500 by late February-early March. If I recall correctly, Intel Haswell will be late again, so IF I can hit a window where the next gen GPUs get paired with Ivy Bridge I'd be happy.

Do you think it could be a possibility that it falls this way?

Otherwise, I'm looking at the Sager NP9150 w/GTX 680, being concerned about the 7970's Enduro problem on Clevo.

If I were you I would wait. You seems like a guy knowing a lot, the new Haswell will be blast power off the road... a bit :p so better off waiting for 2013

Not really worried about the CPU power, Ivy is sufficient. If it saves money, sticking with Ivy would be no loss.

I'd say the high end mobile GPUs won't hit the market until at least May/June. Depending on when Haswell is released, it might be worth the wait for both :D

Not so much power, meant to say speed instead. You'll feel the difference once Haswell releases, and you won't save money... they will be priced the same, check the prices on the old 940XM.. still expensive as hell lol

I'd say around june. The 680m dropped about then this year. The 7970m a few month before iirc.

Hmm, maybe a month after GTX 780's release (big kepler)

We'll probably be seeing the GTX 770 as a GTX 780M if power draw permits.

An underclocked GTX 770 would be nice.

My hope is still for the HD 8900m to be released early enough that it gets paired to IB for a short time. Being most likely based on the HD 8800s, I'd be happy with that if I could pair it to a i7 3740qm.

I too expect the green team to arrive later and they want top dollar @ launch and leave no money on the table. AMD being the better buy>Physx. [...just so long as Enduro issue is solved]

The desktop parts come first. It's hard to begin mobile card speculation, when Nvidia/AMD haven't even begun talking about the GTX 700 and 8000 series publicly yet; January's CES is likely the first trade show we'll hear something about the desktop chips.

I'll guess April for the AMD card, and June/July for Nvidia. I'm holding out for Nvidia this time, so it's time to start stocking up on patience, and money.

The 5870M of the G73 is more than strong enough to justify holding out for the next generation of graphics cards.
