    Hey all!

Quick question, if anyone has some gaming screen shots taken using a workstation graphics card, please post them. I would be interested in seeing.

    Thanks! :)

That's what I am trying to figure out. :p

From your comment though, I take it that I already have my answer. :)

Workstation cards tend to do a little worse on games than their equivalent gaming cards. The drivers are optimized to render differently and they will be faster in 3D modeling situations.

I hear the newer workstation cards have actual hardware differences too that make a noticeable difference.

Lithus, you can use the gaming card drivers on the workstation cards.

I guess the bottom line is I have been looking into the T61p with the NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M. From what I have read, it is based off the 8600GT, but I do know that workstations cards aren't optimized for gaming (which is fine, that is what my desktop is for). Bottom line is I want to know if I do install a game, say Bioshock, or Crysis when it comes out, will the card hold up decent if I decide to play games on it occasional.

FYI, gaming will not be the primary task. I would go for a regular card if that were the case.

I have read that as well. Perhaps I should look into it some more.

I know the Dell mobile workstation cards are exactly the same as their gaming counterparts other than the model # and bios flashed onto them. I bought an FX2500m and flashed it to it's counterpart (7900GTX) and it works awesomely!

    o_O interesting...

Are workstation graphics cheaper than their normal counterparts?

Where can I find these modified drivers and BIOSes? When I use LaptopVideo2Go's Universal Forceware, I can only get my video card to work as the workstation card - a Quadro NVS 140M. I've heard this is roughly equivalent to an 8400GS? How can I get my system to see it as such, and will the gaming experience be significantly, or only marginally better?
