When, with the right configurations on a 8800 gts 640, you can get these graphics in crysis at 40 fps?

These pics are heavily compressed, as a pic from crysis in ULTRA QUALITY (yes, I'm running crysis on ultra quality), requires a 5 meg picture file.
So they don't even look as good as they should.
What's the point of anything beyond quad core and 8800 gts 640/8800 gt 512/9600 gt?
At the moment at least.
EDIT: Here's an uncompressed picture from Crysis ultra quality. I'll upload a better one later. I had to heavily cut it.

lol thats a joke my 8800 m gtx, cant even play on high settings. nice screen shots but you must be getting like 2 fps. the only thing that can play the game correctly is a desktop with tri 768 gtx cards. im going to try that below, thanks.

CCC mod 1.31, modded file changed from autoexec.cfg to system.cfg.
Crysis 1.2 patch.
Try them, yourperformance will go up substaintially.

Ignore the stupid as hell name the modder gave it, if you let it mod your files and then move the modded cfg from autoexec.cfg to system.cfg, you'll get a much faster crysis.
Alot of mods improve crysis's performance, so while I like that mod, pick one you like.
Some of the mods not only improve performance while making it look prettier, but they unlock ultra mode. -
Does anyone honestly need Crysis?
-
why do you even bother posting...swear if you would take 2 seconds before you speak and actually read his post.
-
<3 this quote.
So very very true. -
Don't fight over me, please
.
I also suggest the natural mod, and the config mod. All 3 are very good mods. I love the CCC mod, but all that looks good is daytime areas.
Snow, night, looks bad. -

well i im just a little pissed i spent 3200 bucks on this laptop and i cant play cryis too well. i did read his post and since he orginally did not state any mods where used i assumed he was wrong. well i tried the mod, i selected my computer as mid to high end and vista dx 10 (what did you choose?) i got an average of 20 fps per second. which just below what i would consider playable (30 fps). what am i doing wrong? -
download natural mod 1.2 , patch 1.2, and play in dx9, you will get better performance and = eye candy...
-
Hum. I get much better performance. I've heard the same as well. Some people get better performance with CCC mod, some with natural mod.
Like i said above, try both. -
alienware/user maybe you didn´t see that he runs the game not in Ultra High DX10 but in a modded Ultra High DX9, that´s the difference my 8800GTX desktop has no trouble running the game in modded Ultra High DX9 so should yours.
-
Seriously amazing quote. It borders on being epic.

i cant wait til i get this game and my laptop yeah ive heard its crap but i want to expericence that myslef, love the mods from crymod, the jurassic (sp) park mod looks well good.
-
I am just posting here so I can try these downloads when I get my Gateway P171X FX hotttttttttt. ya thats right hotttttt
-
the CCC mod actually made crysis look worse than b4...it used to run around 15-20 frames on 800x600 on low/med
now i get more fps, but it looks really crappy. -
I'm buying Crysis when it is available on Steam (right) and the next-gen GFX cards are out. No...I'm talking 10800 and 5870.
It'll be nice to just load up the game, max everything out, and enjoy my 30+ FPS without hassle. -
I can't believe people are still going ape poop over trying to find the best settings for Crysis. Seriously it's no one even plays the game, they just try to get it working the best to make e***** size larger.
-
Actually I think most people use Crysis as a benchmark tool, at least I do. I have played it through and won´t do it again, I can however start it up and just look at the graphics, different settings yields different quality, so maybe they think that is the fun of it.
-
I got decent increases in Crysis with CCC back before I uninstalled Crysis a month ago(justb didn't do it for me).
-
I run it on all high cept for shaders and shadows...I paid about 2300 less than you, so technically I > you?
I kid I kid...
But yea, that's a bit odd, you can find custom cfgs all over the place, but I gave up on them and just used in game settings, and enjoyed the game. (which reminds me I gotta beat it) -
you bought a alienware thats what your doing wrong...that aside so far what I've read is the system has heat issues "is anyone really that surprised?" The graphics card keeps downclocking while gaming. To top it off its crysis...the game is horribly coded and has several memory issues.
-
Or you can put it this way Crysis is very very demanding on current gen´s hardware. It were the same with Far Cry when that was released, nothing beat it graphically and it was not until the 2nd gen of GPU´s anyone could run the game in it´s full glory.
But yet I can still run Crysis in 1920x1200 on my new lappie and in DX10 with all options High with an average of around 34 fps. -
OH MY GOD
For all those who are moaning and whinning about stuff...
GET NEW DRIVERS
GET THE 1.2 PATCH
GET THE NATURAL MOD
GET THE CCC MOD 1.31
and what ever else he/they recommend -
Crysis is not the be all and end all of games, I personally think having a 9 series high end card would be just as desirable for games like Supreme Commander and World in Conflict. Coupled with a decent CPU these games give a great visual experience in their own right.
-
this ^ ^. Quite honestly Crysis needed dinosaurs, not aliens. I mean the setting was perfect...
-
I kept on bashing frogs and throwing them against koreeans.
Didn`t kill them but the frog could surely fly into outer space.
Does anybody really need a 9800?
WELL DOOH, with games that pwn your current systems, is there any doubt? -
The point of this post is that not many coming out beat Crysis in looks, let alone even coming close.
If that's the case, if a 8800gts can run things just fine... -
It can`t. Unless you`re fine with low res gaming, which most of the people aren`t.
Does anyone honestly NEED a 9800?
