    Hey guys.

I have started playing games on my XPS 1530, and I have had a few mixed reviews, so I thought I would ask the pro's.

Does extra Ram help, as I know you need tons of Ram for the Vista 32bit O/S, but will it help with game play.

    Currently I have a:

    Dell XPS M1530
    8600GTM DDR3 256MB
2GB RAM - But now will be taking out the 1GB stick and puting in a new 2GB stick I bought from dell for £26.00 = $50.00

So in total will now have 3GB ram.

    Thanks guys.

My advice for any Vista user is to have 2GB as a MINIMUM. Many laptops are specced with 1GB which is not enough, imo. The video card will also access ram so having more will be better. Adding the extra gig will definitely help.

Keep it for back up just in case a stick dies on you.

No, RAM memory modules usually don't die that often, but you can't ever know, keep that 1GB stick just in case.

Typically ram fails when someone is trying to overclock the module. Most ram modules sold by companies like Corsair, Mushkin, Patriot, G-Skill are fairly reliable. Although every now and then you'll get a bad one.

That's why most name brand memory companies put a lifetime warranty on their memory modules.
