    dude, please don't..

I hope you have another 200 within the piggy bank.. a Sager NP9150 / Clevo P150EM with same cpu but about 3x better gpu (7970m) is 1473 bucks from xoticpc right now, I mean seriously, you will love this lappy when you buy it.. it is LIGHTER, MUCH more POWERFUL, better looking (imho, I owned a g53sw), and I mean it is sager, you can replace the gpu whenever you want and keep it updated.. a ton better than asus..

    here is your link

Asus laptops are okay, but I highly recommend going with a Sager - you get much more bang for your buck. Malibal also has Sager equivalents, if you want to check them out.

Tl;dr: Listen to graz'zt. They've got it right.

Thanks for the help!! I was actually looking at Sagers, but I was worried they might be too complicated for me to setup or what not. I'm pretty computer illiterate-- i was sorta overwhelmed with all the options to choose from when buying it. I didnt know what all I needed to get with it... I sorta want the simplicity of just picking up a presetup systsem from best buy :(

Also, from the research i've done, asus laptops tend to be pretty reliable and have long lifespans... sager there isn't much info out there. yeah, they got powerful GPUs and are pretty nice computers... but it gonna last me 3+ yrs or am i gonna have problems with it? i dont really know...and cant really seem to find the reviews/info about them...

    ugh..

I would go with the Sager. You are right to doubt though as I think some people around here are having troubles with there 7970m.

Other than that if you can't wait 1 extra month and you are going on the road now go with Asus as the 7970m is not out yet I think.

Once you know a little bit about different components, buying a custom laptop is fairly easy. There's not a lot of setup that you have to do yourself, generally a laptop works right out of the box, so you shouldn't worry too much.

What kind of usage do you want to get out of your laptop. You say Diablo III and Guild Wars 2, so you'll want a decent GPU, but what about battery life, size, weight, looks? A lot of people here recommend the fastest Clevo/Sager laptop you can afford if you list any kind of gaming among your usage patterns, but that typically comes in a bigger, heavier package with poor battery life and a huge adapter. If you're not worried about maximum gaming performance, or if you want to fulfill other needs with your laptop, you might be better off with an entirely different machine.

My recommendation is that you fill out the "What Notebook Should I Buy" form at the top of this forum so we can help you get the notebook that's best for your budget and your needs.

Yep - When it comes to best bang for buck, Sager is the king.

I also recommend taking his advice.

Don't be scared, there is really nothing to it, just upgrade the gpu to 7970m, I thought you could do your own windows install but if you don't want to (feel lazy about it :D), add windows 7 home premium (it is towards the bottom of the config pag), and then you are set, you will need to do ZERO modifications.. and trust me, it will take you much longer than an asus without problem.. AND you have xoticpc's 24/7 phone support.. and you know what, if something happens, send me a message, I will help you :D

Cant go wrong with a Sager / Clevo if you need high performance at a low price.

I bought them because of the well designed cooling system, and so far its been good to me.
Im guessing i can extend the life of it by a year or two by installing a HD 7970m.

Asus are fine if top performance is not your main concern.

They have great cooling and are super quiet and nicer looking (imo). They
will also be cheaper then a performance sager.

But performance wont really be close. I am replacing my G73 as soon as the sager 7970's are shipping.

asus is fine if < 900 bucks, seriously it doesn't worth 1.3k..
