    Hello -

System is in my sig - things run smoothly for the most part but when I turn using a or d while standing still, images that haven't been rendered yet.. I get a bit of a slowdown, like its sluggish, then once everything renders, its fine.

Is the rendering slightly slow because I have a powerful gphx card (relatively speaking) but only 1 GB RAM? WoW is a memory "intense game", but I always thought gphx cards overcame RAM deficiencies. I will be getting in a fresh 2 GB module from newegg on Monday.

How exactly will my gaming experience improve @ 1 GB vs 3 GB, assuming thats the only main process and program thats running during the time?

I've tried to wrap my fingers around this for a while, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Please let me know, thanks.

RAM would definitely improve your gaming. But besides that, everything seems right.

When I played WoW with 2gb from 1gb, I could definitely feel and see the difference in Outlands.

Graphics cards can't process the game world as far as what people, buildings, objects, etc are there. It'll only do the geometry and textures, basically. The world and what's going on is going to be in regular RAM.

Ohhh, so that explains the minor sluggish frames while turning around on items that haven't been rendered yet. Am I correct? Sorry if I'm repeating my questions - I want to make sure I understand the task @ hand.

I like this suggestion because the amount of RAM you have is the recommended (minimum 512MB) amount for this game (assuming I checked the correct game). Game recommends 64MB (minimum 32MB) GPU, you have that totally covered. And you are Running XP Home not Vista. So while more RAM is always nice you don't really seem deficient. One little test you could do is when this happens watch the HDD light, is the HDD lighting up? If so then yea more RAM might be it, if not lighting up then not hitting the pagefile and not a RAM issue most likely. "Ctrl+Alt+Del" will bring up Task Manager bottom right shows how much RAM you are using. With XP MCE surfing and a few apps open I use 655MB, if I had 1GB that would mean I had 369MB free for whatever. That should be more than enough.

What is the optimum setup for the pagefile? Should I set it to a fixed amount at 1.5*(Installed RAM) or should I let the system manage it.

And no the HD light doesnt come on.
