Anyone have recommendations for good dogfighting games for PC that can be played in LAN?

I would like them to be straight-to-the-point action and easy to learn if possible such as the Ace Combat series on consoles or the ship flying sequences in Star Wars Battlefront II.

(Don't want to learn a whole sequence just to get the plane/ship off the ground or fly for 5+ minutes just to get to the destination point)

    Too soon?

    Lol.

I would also like to know about this, and also, does anyone know of any console dogfighting games as well?

IL-2 Stumovik + expansions, it's a flight sim of WW2 dogfighting. Only on PC and a bit too much of a "sim" imo but worth a try and someone already mentioned Blazing Angels but don't go for the second one, it's rubbish.

Have a look at Lock on: Modern air combat & Falcon 4.0 Allied Force, they do have a Dogfight mode

---To the last 3 posters, I don't think he wants realistic flight-sims like the ones you mentioned (great as they are.) He wants an arcade game ala Ace Combat. 99% action with only the "illusion" of being a sim.

It's too bad the old space opera games (Freespace, Wing Commander, etc) died out, they were perfect for his request.....

Mate try out Battlestations Midway. Its great fun, has a decent "arcade" flight model. Also a little bit of strategy if you feel like controlling your ships.

Do a search on it, its good fun for a LAN game.

Yeah Ace Combat would've been perfect for what you're after. It's a shame no PC version is available...

I tried out the demo for IL-2 Sturmovik (the 2001 release).

It is actually pretty darn good AND it works with my ancient sidewinder joystick!

Anyone tried out the new IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 game?

It's too bad that "Space Opera" games died out (Wing Commander, Freespace, Starlancer, Tachyon, etc.)

This genre was perfect at "arcade-flight-sims" ala Ace Combat.
