Just acquired the Dolphin GC Emulator and a Super Smash Bros. Melee ROM (and here's the obligatory "Yes, I own an original copy of the game" statement).

However, I can't seem to get it to use my dedicated graphics card - only Intel integrated. Does anyone here have any idea how to do this?

Thanks in advance for any tips, all advice is appreciated.

Do you have the video backend set to Direct3d?

Make sure that you have the latest BIOS from HP. In that BIOS, there should be a choice between "Dynamic" switching and "Fixed" switching. Dynamic has problems with certain programs, including the one you mention. Change it to Fixed, selected the discreet GPU and the 6770M will work with anything.
