My new AST Bravo II with a 386SX microprocessor and a motherboard with built-in video and HD/disk controllers have problems when i run Doom 1 It got Windows 3.1 and 8 mb ram.
How can i increase my FPS?

....
What year is it :S -
You have to overclock your GPU!! but first of all u will need some water cooling to cool that beast
-
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
Buy Doom 3, install it on your AMD 2600 desktop, download & install the Classic Doom Mod, and now you have Doom 1 in glorious 3D!

How about a 80387 math coprocessor? Like this

It seems common that as we progress and get all these new games and new drivers that at some point they become broken for old games. Just last night I installed Halo 2 and it runs really bad on my new system, high fps but really jumpy game play. About a month ago I installed SW: KOTOR on my new 4850 crossfire desktop and it ran like 20fps when it should have been over 200 easy. -
Seriously is this a joke? That computer sting balls. New? Why not play Doom 1 on your lappie instead? Or your desktop.
Yes a 386 is not enough to play Doom 1. Even my old 486 sx 25 MHz struggled with Doom 1. -
Guys... I could play doom i on mx old mp3 player with no drama
-
The problem is that the 386sx has only 16 bit bus, I used to play doom 2 in a 386 dx 40mhz just fine.
Have you tried the turbo button?
You can also try reducing the drawing area using the - button, I don´t remeber but one of the F# buttons changed the game to a lower detail, which can also improve your fps -
My N64 will be able to run it on high? Here are my components:
CPU type: MIPS 64-Bit RISC CPU (customized R4000 series)
CPU Clock Speed: 93.75 MHz
Memory: RAMBUS D-Ram 36-Mbit
Transmission Speed: Maximum of 4 500 Mbit/second
Co-Processor: RCP: SP (sound and graphics processor) and DP (pixel drawing processor) incorporated
Co-Processor Clock Speed: 62.5 MHz
Picture resolution: 256 x 224 ~ 640 x 45 dots
Flicker-free interlaced mode support
Color: 32-Bit RGBA pixel color frame buffer support, 21-Bit color video Graphics Processing Functions: Z Buffering, Anti-Aliasing, Realistic texture mapping (Tri-linear mip-map interpolation, environment mapping, perspective correction) -
Nice rig there KillerJuan. I think I must get me a new rig too, probably a killer 486 DX33, with 4MB Ram and an S3 Virge GPU. Hopefully I can max out Doom 1 on this one.
-
Oh man. I just got my new Pentium 60MHz, 8MB RAM, 320MB HDD, TWO floppy drives, a super fast 4x CDROM, 8MB S3 Virge and the flashy new Windows 95. Even comes with this great online service called AOL (actually announces "you've got mail" when I get new mail - cool!).
This system should last me FOREVER. -
Right on htwingnut. I must say I am a little jealous of your über rig Pentium rig. Must say I feel defeated there
No seriously is this thread for real? It can´t be. I haven´t seen any more replies from him. Though I must say it is hilarious to say the least if he is serious -
Yes it is funny. LOL.
I love reflecting back on the older technology. That PC I quoted was actually my first PC I bought out of college (Dec 1994), and upgraded from Win3.1 to Win95. I was jealous because my wife (girlfriend at the time) had a 75MHz Pentium, and she only got it for AOL... lol. I was playing GAMES, much more important -
Ah yes the good ol' days
Remember my friend upgraded from his 386 sx 25 to a Pentium 75 MHz and he played Quake on it. I was jealous since I had a measly AMD 486 DX-100Mhz and it couldn´t play Quake for any second. Though that Pentium 75 MHz had some raw power to crunch Quake on
Oh he also had a Diamond Viper GPU, so in those days a kick *** rig
Though these days it´s the other way around, now it is me who has the kick *** rigs -
-
Hey that´s even worse, I would be jealous too
-
I heard there's no set-up that can max out doom 1.. It's just a pretty benchmark.
Doom 1 Lags on my new rig
