    Hi

Ive just installed doom 3 on my new toshiba p200 1k-9
and the game runs great however im having some difficulties
    with different settings.

After installation the settings were set to high and the resolution
was set to 640x480 and all the extra settings were switched on
i then changed the resolution to 1280x1024 but the game looked
the same, i then after making the changes restarted the game to
see if that would help but it did'nt, in fact after restarting it the
    games resolution reset to 640x480

I have tried all the different settings low, medium, high and ultimate
and have tried every single resolution option but visually no matter
what i do the game always looks the same.

If anyone knows why this is happening, or if there is any way of fixing
this problem i would be very grateful.

    Thankyou

CPU: Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo T7700 (2.4Ghz)
    RAM: 3GB DDR2
GPU: 512MB Ati Mobility Radeon HD2600
    HDD: 250GB HDD
    Display: 17" TFT Trubrite (1440x900)
    OS: Windows Vista Home Premium

It cant be a problem with the computer because i installed
doom 3 on my fathers desktop and the same thing happened
and his desktop has a 256MB Ati Radeon HD2400 pro graphic card
    with 2GB of RAM and a AMD Athlon64 x2 dual core 4000+ 2.11Ghz
    processor.

have you installed patches or third party programs?

    Patches can fix that problem
Third party programs can make it worst

I had the same problem. It seems that you cannot choose a resolution that is larger than your native resolution. You were trying to run 1280x1024 on a 1440x900 screen. There aren't enough pixels to display 1024 horizontal lines, so the game defaults back to 640x480.

You have to select a resolution that does not exceed your native resolution in either horizontal or vertical lines.

Got it in one. I had the same issue a few months back. Puzzled me for quite a while before I realised I was being an idiot simply because I couldn't remember my laptop res... :)

Fiery winds i took your advice and it worked like a charm
i kept my laptop res at 1440x900 and after fiddling with
the settings doom 3 is now running at 1024x768 on high settings
and not only does it look amazing, the game runs completely smooth.

    Thankyou :)
