Maybe it is time for a little change in gameplay and story, it would be pretty boring fighting old battles again and again... I do not expect something big, but just a little fresh air.

D3 was good but did get a little tiring. The atmosphere and attention to little details was excellent. I really got creeped out sometimes. But yet another fireball shooting demon popping out of a dark doorway/closet/cabinet/vent you just passed by got a little boring. The Hell level was too short and then going back to the base for more dark corner ambushes ruined it. A little more variety would be nice. Quake 4 was more fun IMHO.

how about gameplay that requires more than 5 brain cells...that would be refreshing

they've made no progress on gameplay since quake 2; just prettier graphics; i couldnt even make it to the end of quake4 it was so monotonous

I liked Q4 much more than D3. I could actual make it to the end without wanting to jump into a barrel of forks.

    Hi.

I thought that doom3 was a little cramped and claustrophobic, I player doom + doom2 years ago.

    Looking forward to Doom4 though.

    regards

    John.

eleron that's what people said about D3, and yet it still slowed down the GF6800/X800, and it was announce and in development since the GF2 and through the GF3-4 days into the end of the R9700/FX days. Still doesn't mean they can't add a ton of features to it.

Depends alot on what Carmack et al. decide to implement from the OGL tool shed. They could easily make it crushingly taxing, but hopefully they make it more scalable and take that dual approach for OGL 2.1+ feature sets.

Regardless of which people think is a better game HL2 scaled much better than D3 which was a little top-heavy like FartCry. I think the time wasted on an NV30 path would've been better spent on optimising for GF3/4 & R8500/9000, and maybe then even the FX5200 woulld've benefited.

Just hope they push both ends of the gamebase not just the high end.

Doom 3 was SUPER! I didn't think I'd care for it much, but man, it scared the bejeezus out of me! Best use of atmosphere both visual and sound to make one scary game. I was afraid to go around any corner. But after about 2/3 through it I had to use the god mode cheats just to finish. Except that I didn't use it for the final boss just to see if I could do it, and it was easier than a lot of the constant onslaught of demons a the end.

    Doom 4?

Uh-oh! I had better stock up on new underwear. Doom 3 scared the crap out of me and I couldn't finish it. I even have it on both PC and 360. But I'm a sucker for punishment and will get D4 as soon as I finish D3, during daylight hours!

If they move on from 1995 era Monster Closet level design I might be interested.
