Oh yes, definitely real. Can't wait.
-
Very excited to see the new game... Can't wait but I guess I have to be patient
-
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Very excited for this!
It looks like DOOM meets the Zerg. I'm okay with this. Just make sure they're still demons from hell and not just weird aliens. -
Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
I hope it will be backported to original engine. =p
-
Have you tried Brutal Doom?
-
Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
No. Judging by Brutal Doom gameplay videos, Doom Eternal seems to be inspired by it a lot... -
It's great.. gzdoom + brutal is fantastic. I just recently replayed both Doom and Doom ][ using it, was a blast. They never get oldbennyg, killkenny1, Starlight5 and 1 other person like this.

Well, looks like the best of the best is coming back again. New Engine ID Tech7, hopefully it can succeed the IDTech666. Too many claims but we know that Tech7 cannot do 10x magically higher geometry due to the conslows. But anyways DOOM 2016 was the best game, one of the best games I've came across in the past decade. OW got the Game of the year for 2016, while DOOM should have got it, the best FPS game ever hands down, the speed, the Adrenalin, the immersive story, the dope music from Gordon damn everything was fantastic. Fingers crossed for DOOM ETERNAL to take the throne this time around for our FPS fans (Real gaming)
Unfortunately there are lot of strings attached - The "Eternal mode" is like trying so bad to make the fantastic shooter AAA game into some MP milking cow. But so far I'm impressed even though the Mouse and KB gameplay was very little (not sure whether that was nightmare or not, I hope this time the nightmare to be on steroids needing more Adrenalin not the other way to cater to consoles) and restricted to that "Invasion mode" adding more salt, Bethesda ripped off modder in Eternal but never gave a credit it seems. But however this time around the modding might exist. I hope it makes it. Also they are considering the DLC for SP unlike the last time. Plus the Bethesda.net, no steam means another walled garden, a mess. To add, the glory kills and fatalities look good but seems somewhat generic better they add more gore and various styles, also the colors. Baron looks like some blackened charred mess vs the DOOM 2016's vivid colors. Although will reserve my judgement until the game is released.
Can't wait to see Samuel Hayden again ! Afterall the only 2 men who are alive crossing the realms..
Ultra pumped up

I am so looking forward to the new Doom Eternal game. Doom 2016 was a blast and double dipped with this game. Got it both for PC and Switch. It was the perfect fusion between art style, movement, gameplay, sound and music for me. Hopefully Eternal can keep this high standard up. The gameplay looked promising!
Also curious about how it will run. IDtech6 is such a well done engine.
Also nice how they implement in a low key way all that lore which was kinda ignored by a lot of people in Doom 2016. -
If it's anything like 2016, it will run buttery smooth!
-
Good stuff. Looks awesome. I'm late to the party, but just about anything in DOOM, Wolfenstein or Crysis franchises gets my attention and holds it. Hardly any other games do any more.
Light on storyline and heavy on the chaos is hard to beat.

Not only that, it's hard to find a well optimized game these days amongst all the poorly written garbage like ARK and PUBG. Even in my M17x R2 and single 8970M, I can get 45-60fps on ultra settings 1080P using vulkan API, which quite frankly, is amazing given how old that machine is.Mr. Fox likes this.

I have lost a lot of interest in gaming for the same reasons I have lost interest in laptops. There is so much garbage out there that it's disturbing. The rare exceptions (like DOOM) give me something to look forward to and binge on in a space where I don't spend much time any more.
I own PUBG, but don't understand why it is popular. Not my cup of tea, but I gave it a shot. I'd love to be able to sell the hundreds of Steam games I own that looked sweet when I bought them, but found them so boring that they couldn't hold my interest for an hour.
I have never been disappointed in a DOOM, Wolfenstein, Crysis, Battlefield or (don't hate me for it) COD title. They are generally the only ones I play to the end and replay again and again.
Gears of War as well. I love the original and GoW4, but cannot tolerate an unmodded version of Windows 10 long enough to download and play through GoW4 a second time. I have not played through the remastered version of the original Gears game for Windows 10 for the same reason. Great titles, but not great enough to be worth tolerating the cancer OS. Hopefully, DOOM (or the others mentioned) will never be ruined by UWP filth.Last edited: Aug 24, 2018 -

I wouldn't exactly go as far as to call it a shining example of optimization though. It performs really poorly on Kepler in both OpenGL and Vulkan, has little to no multi-GPU support, is really hard for OBS to hook, and seems to hit an engine limit fairly quickly above 144 FPS. IMO something like Destiny 2 is better optimized. -
That's nvidia's fault, kepler was so poorly designed, it did not age well at all compared to AMD cards of the same generation due to it's architecture and periods of driver gimping. AMD was planning ahead. Luckily maxwell has fared much better.
very few games these days do, it's going the way of the dodo, and I'm not inclined to ever own a crossfire or SLI setup ever again. Lesson learned: Buy the single strongest card on the market. -
Buying the strongest card available is a good approach, but I still like having two more than one. When it works it's great. But, I generally derive more pleasure from overclocked benching than I do playing games and that is where SLI really shines. When you buy the strongest card available you don't need two of them for playing games even when SLI is fully supported, unless you're trying to do something like running maxed out settings at 4K. In fact, one second fiddle GPU (1070) generally far exceeds the recommended hardware requirements for most games.Aroc likes this.

Actually, in my opinion, new Wolfenstein games are one of the better examples of the story-driven FPS, therefore I wouldn't call them light on the story.Mr. Fox likes this.
