Has anyone actually doubled the frame rate of their games from overclocking alone? I am not talking about benchmark. I am talking about real life gaming performance. Doubling it from 30fps to 60fps.

I think overclocking is only worth it if I can at least double the frame rate at all times for all games. Otherwise, it's not worth the hassle.

I don't think I've ever heard of literally doubled frame rates from overclocking. And if you can, it would take a hell of an overclock. Better make sure your cooling is up to it.

    Doubling!
No way, you would be lucky to get an extra 15% or 20% safely.....and if you are lucky.

yeah, and it would depend on the game.

if you oc the cpu and run gta, you might see a larger increase in fps than in crysis where you would have to oc both gpu and cpu to see the same fps increase.

but yeah, you would only see like a 5% increase running stable. depending on hardware of course. <("<)(>")>

I doubled my frame rate once, wen't from 1fps to 2fps just by overclocking the cpu.

But going from 30 to 60 seems like an impossibility.
Maybe if you OC the GPU, CPU, ram and then also find a better driver you could possibly go from 30 to 60.

i get a nice 25% overclock on my graphics card, i get a massive frameboost. def not 2x as strong, but good. i usually make it look prettier though so i can have the good visuals without much lag (22 fps doesnt lag for me...though i have bad eyes :p)

like crysis i go from s/t/o medium rest low to shadows/textures/objects high rest medium and get about an extra 5 fps.
i cant tell you my exact frame boost though cause i have no idea lol.

i have about a 30% increase on my cpu and a reasonable 15% on my gpu before everything starts to spaz out on me

in games doesnt make a huge difference with a quad and Xfire cards tbh tho, more for the benching side of things

although i do run my quad at 3.2 all the time

if you have a machine which has parts worth overclocking then i would reccomend it, but if you only have something like a 3650 or a 4350 then i wouldnt bother no amount of overclocking will make them gaming beasts

you will not be overclocking your way into double frame rates.

therefore, quite simply, it will not be worth the hassle for you.

    problemo solved.

The idea is to make a game more playable, usually. Something that runs at 23 or 24 fps to get it to 30fps (i.e. Crysis)

i disagree, i think its more important on a low/medium end card. if want to game, but have to settle for terrible settings/low frame rate its better to overclock so you can actually get a decent framerate or better settings, overclocking high end cards wont really help in real world, as they can already play the game perfectly.

i have a hd 2600, gaming on it is fine either way, all new games at least play medium, but when i overclock i can get high settings while maintaining a solid framerate.
