I'll be adding test releases for my drivers here.
So keep an eye on this thread from time to time.
I won't "support" these releases, they are just to test if a new features of my drivers that I am working before I make them gold.
Only give feedback on the noted changes given below and nothing else un-related or un-stated with its release.
180.84
Supports mobile cards only from 6- GT series and quadro equivalent.
Testing new installer,
-Three options to choose from:
- Balance a sets driver settings for a balance of image quality and performance
- Performance sets driver settings for higher performance with noticable loss to image quality
- Alternative install for users who have in game problems with the above settings. GTA IV users should install with this.
-Driver files are now extracted to C:\Vista_Dox_18084 etc, so manual deletion is now required
-Changed driver name from "Dox's Custom Forceware" to "Dox Optimised Forceware"
-Changed gpu name tag from "[Custom Forceware 180.84]" to [Dox Optimised 180.84]"
-Added tag to represent driver setting chosen, eg choosing performance = [Dox Optimised 180.84: Performance]
Give feedback on the new name and whether the "choose your driver settings" works and installs correctly.

NO X64 RELEASES
Side Note
Anyone any good at photoshop/gimp and know how to make .ico files and .bmp, so I can use custom image for my installer?
-
I have a question for this release. What does this driver do for Quadro mobile cards? I'm really interested because my current Dell stock Quadro drivers always outperform LV2G's other geForce drivers. When I installed your driver, it was the best performance I've ever gotten from LV2G.
L4D on Dells drivers always ran at 35-70 depending on the scene & number of zombies. In smoke/fog/particles, the FPS drops.
L4D on yours always always always runs at 40FPS, not 1 lower and not 1 higher. I noticed in smoke/fog/particles, the FPS -never- drops.
A little insight is appreciated and I hope us Quadro users finally have a gaming solution to outperform OEM drivers. -
Come on DOX no 64 bit support on this beta. Thats cruel lol.
ah well ill just w8.
Thanks for cosidering this driver -
-
hello flipfire,
basically what i was saying is:
Can anyone make it for me since I am no good at such thing
massive creds will be given
Basically I what an image file so I can use that for the installer (setup.exe image) and a also looking for a .ico file. -
ahh you want a logo designed?
www.graphxservice.com
They are great artists. Just let them know of your ideas.
Free of charge. -
thanks mate, I'll definitely give them a shout!
-
LOL? Sorry no clue what you want, I know nothing about ico's so ignore me if this sucks. -
I'm looking for an .ico file for my setup.exe instead of what it is now:
I'm looking for the laptopvideo2go image as seen on the front page of laptopvideo2go, unless someone more creative can help me.
Also looking for someone to mod the setup.bmp found in the nvidia drivers.
again with laptopvideo2go logo and Dox Optimised on it somewhere.
Not 100% sure of colours as long as it looks cool.
thanks for the effort i love ram. -
Dox those are really Stable, i dont know what the heck you do with those drivers, but FPS never Drops... its just at the same rate no matter what you do o_0 good job mate!
-
yep, eventhough these are test releases. the actual driver themselves have been optmised like i do with all drivers,
I dont release things that potentially gives negative effects to you guys
this is just to test the new install which seems to be working great
took me a long time to perfect this new installer. -
You mean this image here?:
*oops higher quality:
If it's the whole LV2G image im out of luck. The little laptop w/ colors is the best I could cut out of it. -
ratchetnclank Notebook Deity
That any good?
EDIT: I'll try a lv2g one for you.
My attempt.
Had to re-vector the logo so it's not perfect but i tried.
If you can get the creator of the logo to send you the psd i can do something much better lol. -
hey thanks guys heres what I am looking for:

I feel touched, thanks for all helping me,
at least I'm getting something back from the community, makes my effort worthwhile.

ratchetnclank Notebook Deity
So you want the LV2go logo on the computer screen?
Like this?
Should be able to change perspective of logo when i get home ps7 wont let me but CS4 will. -
basically for the "setup.exe image" I want it to be lv2go
where 2 = the laptopv2go screen logo
and Lv and go is on each side of it.
"setup.exe image" = the image i can use for this thing: http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/7185/26819127fp8.png
as for the the setup.bmp, its a file that can be found on all nvidia drivers that pops up when you run nvidia's setup.exe.
I was wondering if you could mod that so it says Dox Optmised underneath it,
make it so if blends well with the existing feel of the image.
Unless of course you got your own ideas.
I also really like:
If possible intregate that into the setup.bmp file? some how make it blend with the original file and not make it stand out like a sore thumb, at the same time people still notice it. SO maybe your own custom design maybe better to get everything i want in.
I dont mind if you leave your watermark on it
, if I'm asking too much, no worries, you dont have to do it!! -
well im not looking to add laptopvideo2go into the screen of the existing image.
I want to replace it entirely.
with just lv2go
Not Laptopvideo2go.
where 2 is the "2" logo design from the front page of laptopvideo2go
I hope that is clear.
if its too small you could just make the 2 look like the laptop but without the colour in it if you see what I mean.
if it helps I can ask the site admin to send me the orginal file?
thanks for the effort -
ratchetnclank Notebook Deity
Like this?
Dox rather than me spam this thread up with entries can you provide me with contact details or turn on your pm's?
Thanks -

Didn't Dox say he wanted Dox "Optimized" not "Custom"... nice work on the logo's though, your coming up with some good stuff fast!
-
awesome ratchetnclank!!.
yes lets speak on msn.
Exactly what i had in mind.
please could you add me [email protected] -
Good work.
But on a personal note : optimization is good but cut anything out of the original
driver is like buying a car without spare tire, or tools to change tire.
Most likely not needed part but when you need it and it is missing.... -
true thats why i give a full change log, so people can make their mind up whether they want to use it or not.
I can still released my driver wihtout removing anything, the stuff i remove doesnt affect performance, its just my personal obession of if i dont use it, i dont need it.
what you get with these are bare minimum, i like "skinny" -
Hey Dox, driver works great; chose the default installation and everything works superb. I've only tested this on Fallout 3, but I'll get to testing everything soon enough.
Great work Dox! -

Here you go dox i did the tweaks you asked.
All i ask is i get credited for my workAttached Files:

COME ON DOX please make this driver for vista x64 users. I WANT THISSSSSS DRIVER LOL.
i just like to keep all my drivers up to date.
P.S. how is overclocking on these cards. -
*prays for integrated/dedicated GPU switching support in the future*
It can't hurt to try? -
it may never happen:
1) I base my drivers on those for DESKTOP gpus released by Nvidia - which is no obviosuly designed for what you specifcally want/
2) I thought such things was done by way of software supplieded to you by your manufacturer
3) I have no idea how
so you should stick with your drivers supplied to by your manufacturer.
Unless of course you give me details of what you "do" to switch between integrated and non integrated gpu.
Do you just press a button on your laptop and that switches it? -
Has anyone tried these new drivers with GTA IV?
(side note: great job Dox, it's great to have somebody who keeps on working for the community!) -
Here's a brief, not terribly technical description on the graphics switch:
For the Vaio SZ/Z, they have a switch on the case that indicates Speed/Stamina. For the SZ, the proceedure was different for graphics switch.
Basically, on my Vaio Z (with Sony support software installed for functionality) I flick over the switch from stamina to speed, then it prompts me to close all my windows before I confirm the switch (press ok), at this point, it takes a bit of time, then the screen goes blank, and shortly after, reappears, now using the dedicated GPU. Same vice versa when switching back.
On the new MacBook Pro, I believe they also have switchable, however you're required to log out and log back in to switch over.
In XP on the Vaio Z, the switch doesn't work properly no matter what, and in order to switch graphics over, you basically need to restart the laptop.
From the information I can gather regarding the switchable graphics, it appears that Sony somehow bundled the Intel X4500 driver, or at least some of it, into the NVIDIA driver (I can't confirm this, however, I believe someone has tried installing other drivers, and the speed/stamina switch simply stopped functioning, so I assume the control for it is located in this driver, as any version of the intel x4500 integrated driver can be installed.)
When the graphics are switched over, in stamina mode, you can't see the NVIDIA card. In speed mode, I assume the integrated is still there, just disabled as priority is given to the discrete GPU.
With regards to installation, to install the integrated GPU driver, the switch has to be set on stamina when doing anything with the integrated GPU, and speed, when doing anything with the GPU (including driver install/changes).
It's a shame Sony didn't just create another utility to manage the graphics switch, rather than somehow force the switch into NVIDIA's driver. :S -
Sounds like you shoulda just a bought a notebook or desktop with a good gpu and used the extra money you spent on that feature and "the sony name" to buy a netbook =)
-
I have a good desktop. I just want to be able to update my video drivers (one of the primary reasons I'm on the NVIDIA side of the fence).
I absolutely cannot stand netbooks. They're just not for me. I bought the Z because I need a jack of all trades laptop that can handle apps like HYSIS, MATLAB, and the sort, but I also like to game too.
...and there's always instances where you just can't haul a 40 lbs desktop around.
Used to have a 15.4". Heavy as heck, not practical for post-secondary.
I don't think I'll ever be able to use a laptop heavier than the one I have right now ever again. XD -
ratchetnclank Notebook Deity
Sony Z is awesome just a tad expensive.
-
Its the nvidia drivers for hybrid sli.
Since I base my drivers provided for DESKTOP GPU, nvidia dont make them for hybrid sli provided for a specific laptop to work with a specific integrated gpu for obvious reasons.
You should stick to sony drivers for full SPECIFIC functionality of your your gpu to work. Sony probs pay nvidia a large sum of money for those hybrid sli drivers specific to that model. -
Yeah just bustin' ur chops cuz i think sony over charges
-
However, I'm fine with that as long as I get a quality product. (There isn't much that matches the Z's power AND weight.) If I were looking to get a desktop replacement size notebook (which I never will ever again) I'd have looked elsewhere.
Oh, and it seems like Sony just released a driver update for ATI cards... so maybe there's an NVIDIA update somewhere too!MUST STAY HOPEFUL!
Thanks for the info Dox!
-
Sony doesnt have Hybrid SLi, it just has switchable graphics doesnt it?
-
Just a little update:
The installer has been worked on more over the past days and now in the driver preference page you can click any of the buttons more than once and
re choose your driver settings without conflicting each other (that was the only major thing with the public test version - you had to choose one option only or the driver settings would clash)
Hopefully nvidia will have a new WHQL driver out before X mas -
DOX can you release a Vista X64 release for these Beta drivers.
I would really like to try them -
I have a Toshiba X05-SLi3 with dual 8600M GT 256MB DDR3 cards running Vista x64 Ultimate and when I installed your drivers, the HDMI output to my 1080p LCD TV did not scale properly. A few previous drivers also gave me the same issue, but currently I'm using non-modified 180.70s.
Also, as someone who modifies drivers, I'd like to ask you about some things I noticed regarding my cards downclocking. With 16x.xx drivers, the cards do not downclock, max temps being around 80c for both cards. With the 17x.xx drivers that I've tried, downclocking always occurs as the cards approach 80c. Is this something that can be investigated and maybe changed? I know tons of people are having problems associated with 8600M GT cards downclocking and I think nvidia might have changed the drivers to fight the 8600M GT failures... -
Has anyone tried these on GTA IV, do they offer some kind of performance boost at all?
-
My average FPS in GTA4 went from 17 to 23 with these! Used the benchmark tool in-game to check.
-
Well the 184.84 are naturally optimized to work with GTA IV. Unless you had stock 184.84 before then it may not directly be the driver tweaks.
-
-
Ok got them but i HATE IT.
I get lower FPS in all my game and CoD4 stutters like hell.
Going back to 180.70 DOX
Thanks for the heads up
