Wow before the game is even released BioWare wants you to pay extra for junk that should just be included on the standard release?

    Gotta love BioWare DLCs.

Wish more companies were like Tripwire and Valve where DLC, updates and patches are included in the standard price regardless if it's a signature, collector's, special edition or full price or sale.

I'll stick to companies who believe that when a customer pays for something, they deserve the full game and don't have to pay for support and fixes that were the fault of the developer to begin with.

Imagine if Microsoft stripped Windows 7 of features and charged money for each individual segment and then also charged for patch/updates? Eh... whatever.

Thats sad, $7.00 when the game will cost $50-$60 and they know they can advertise it outright because people will accept it and pay for it, and of course the reason is to boost the special edition sales else they would just hold onto it for a while and release it after the game is out so you do not know they had the content ready the whole time and just decided not to include it in the game so they could charge you for it.

Just to clarify, everyone gets the Signature/Special edition if you pre-order before January 11. Though I will admit I would prefer all this DLC packaged as an expansion or such instead of the silly breadcrumb method Bioware is doing now.

And there will be... the ultimate edition, just that we'll have to wait around a year for that.

IMHO it is better to wait and not rush for signatures since all DLC for DA:O ranged between 'totally sucks' to 'ok'.

I OBJECT! I submit into evidence: the stone prisoner dlc

now. in my opinion. its bioware. they are my favorite company. i have bought mass effect 1 3 times (gonna buy again on steam), i have bought DA:O once (gonna buy again on steam) and mass effect 2 once (gonna buy again on steam). i am more than willing to pay extra for thier dlc.

Ok, I have a problem with this "should be included with the standard release" argument. None of us works at Bioware and in consequence we have no idea how the game was planed or what content was gonna be put in the original version. Maybe they developed a pretty long, 60 dollar worthy, game, and then realized they had more content left that wasn't important at all, so then made that into a DLC to hype the Special Edition. Maybe not. But stop that should be included BS (at least until the game is released). This ain't Mafia 2.

While your objection is totally correct, it happens that that's their best DLC (note that the expansion in not a DLC)... which was free for all new copies of DA:O.

And for the record: yes I love both DA:O and Mass Effect 2 (still play both games) and think that Bioware is simply too cool. My gist is that I don't like this type of marketing (which most probably comes from EA...).

On a side note: it is curious that Steam is not participating for the pre-release of DAO 2.

Yeah I heard about that too, I wonder why. Thankfully I pre-ordered it from D2D when they had that 25% off coupon a few months ago.

Thread where they confirmed they weren't releasing the game on steam: Dragon Age 2 and Steam
