This is my Directx diagnostic thingy window

And this is dragon age 2

Why wont it allow me to select very high settings? I think I need it to view the high resolution textures. I just updated my drivers to the latest official version.

Edit: Maybe there is a way to force those settings in a config file? the game is still pretty new...

Don't know why it wouldn't let you chose very high, but you don't need it to view the high res textures. ;)

DX11 Very High is pointless anyways coz even on my desktop 5850 OC'd I only get 30fps on DX11 Very High, where I get 60+ fps on DX11 High settings 2xAA.

Is there a config file? Copy it and try to change it manually with a text editor :)

You can't choose very high because you need to download the "very high" texture pack first here.

Possibly, it says "at least 1GB", so it might be OK. He wanted to know why it wouldn't work though, and that's why.

You don't need the High Res Texture pack to play on very high, I can do it without the pack.

Yes, Dragon Age 2 performs better on AMD. BioWare developed DX11 with AMD.

Plus it doesn't matter since AMD has a new feature that allows you to disable or customize tessellation settings.

But that also doesn't matter since the DX11 features in DA2 are about lighting and shading which AMD has no problems with, actually may be faster than Nvidia.

Play DA2 on high settings with the high res textures and you should have smooth framerate on any midrange performance card, HD5770/GTX450 desktop equivalent or better. No slow downs etc.

I could turn on very high right at the release date, when no patches were released yet.

I'm currently running at 1680x1050 with 0xAA, 4xAF, everything at their highest (very high, high-res textures patch, etc). Noticed that when scrolling the screen, it can get a bit choppy, though battles seem to be fine (only played until arriving at Kirkwall though). I'm still trying to mess around with the settings trying to get an optimal config for my system.
