I got the retail DVD version and have games on steam. I was wondering which version is better dvd version with uplay or steam version which you have to go through. Does steam version have achievements?
I heard that steam version has a lot of problems so I am thinking of taking the wrapper off and installing it on my laptop. I have dirt 3 tdu2, Batman arkham asylum, arkham city demo, gta series midnight club 2 on it but test drive unlimited 2 is so bad I can't play online and it crashes if I tab out of it. Probably the worst port I played at least gta 4 runs only low fps not having major issues with everything else lol.
Anyway I am wondering is the dvd version better then the steam version.
edit: Just seen steam version for £4.99. http://store.steampowered.com/app/33440/

They would probably be identical, since it would the retail UbiSoft game + Steam Overlay.
-
hmm, anyone else have an opinion on which version is better.
I wonder if my p7350 will handle the game, these days most games just about run on it. -
Steam is better. That way you can always reinstall it on any machine you want and no need to keep track of disks. Just your SteamID/pass

I heard steam version had a few problems working.
-
That would be false, it works fine, and other than using a relic like physical media there is no difference between the two versions.
-
So there is no steam achievements for DSF?
I think I will wait to see if steam have any good deals if not I will open it and play it. Looks like a fun game, my brother played the demo on the ps3 a while back and said it was fun and he plays gt5. -

What does drm do exactly? Why need drm for all the time. So it seems the dvd version install is the best one so I am gonna open it tommorow and install and see if my processor can handle it. I got mine for very cheap.

The always on DRM is on both versions for the PC, you need to sign in to an Ubisoft account. The always on DRM checks that you are in constant contact with Ubisoft's servers, game saves are stored there and if you lose connection you cannot save, with some games like Assassin's Creed 2 the game will shut down, but when you regain connection you are right where you left off before. I have only run into this problem once on any of the Ubisoft games I own, that was back when they first started this.

can you back up saves. The worst game online and in general is test drive unlimited 2, its a nightmare, I hope driver is far better.

I should have said this driver san francisco one as it requires online to save.
Anyway I got this gamesavemanager2 which I have backed up everything but not sure if it works as I yet to try the backup.
I normally before used to copy the save files and folder but gfwl was to hard. Anyway I made my mind up using the dvd version.
However only if it works without using dvd or do you have to have it in all the time even if you have installed it? I am not sure as it has its only manager so surely you won't need the dvd drive all the time. -
By the way I installed it and it doesn't need a dvd so its all good. Played it a week ago now.

steam version is £4.99 75% off.

I got the dvd version delivered for £3.50 brand new and I personally prefer ubiplay to steam.
