Last night my computer crashed twice while I was playing borderlands with a friend. We were in the middel of playing when it just froze. No blue screen or anything. I tried ctrl-alt-deleting, but couldn't bring up the task manager. I let it sit at the frozen screen for a few minutes, still no response. I turned it off for about 20 seconds, and when I turn it on again, it shuts right back down after about 3 seconds. I try again and boots up normally

Before windows it says windows has recovered from an error, asks me if I want to run in safe mode, yada yada yada, I start normally, try playing borderlands again w/ my friend and it freezes on me again.

When my last laptop's gpu burned up, I got artifacting everywhere (even in the bios), so i have no idea what to make of this. Hope it's just a driver issue so I don't have wait for HP to fix it for me.

Almost forgot to add, after the second crash I booted up and just stayed in windows. The computer was on for around 2 hours without any issues.

First thing to check for is temps, download HWinfo32 or any other temp monitoring software and check your idle/max temps.

If that turns out ok, do the usual driver update/sweep.

From there is gets more fun.
