The last few drivers I used from www.laptopvideo2go.com, I couldn't wake my PC from sleep without restarting. Also, I experienced some pink flickering screen, and then it would shut down. As a result, I had Dell replace the screen and GPU, but it happened again, so I downgraded to the official Dell release from last year, and it fixed everything as far as I can tell. Now, I didn't always have these problems with drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com. Hmmm.

So, the question is, which out of the semi-recent releases is a good, stable one. One to camp on. Any suggestions? Thanks. :)

Sorry if it's redundant, or if I should've looked somewhere else, but I'm in a hurry to go to a LAN party.

    TIA,

What is the list of drivers you have used recently? I use the 181.00 and no problems so far for me.

Using it right now. Not working. :p

Gaming is fine, but my computer won't wake up from sleep, and I expect some quirky graphics crashes if I keep using it.

    Thanks, though!

Using 178.46 right now and it's working well. Second-most-recent 178.xx driver, after 178.49 which has a ? by its source. Probably not a particularly popular choice since it's designed for Quadro workstation desktops, but it's been serving me well and the earlier 178's (I also have run 178.13 and 178.26) also did well for me. 174.31 from Dell started giving me nv_disp driver crashes the past week or so, so I'm not sure quite what's up with that.

Don't take it for too much though, since you're running Vista and I'm running XP. That can account for a good amount of difference when you're talking graphics drivers.

Well, thanks. I do remember there were one or two drivers somewhere around 169.xx and 17x.xx that worked fine. Hmm....maybe I'll just experiment. :D

Did you try the latest drivers from nvidia's site?

From nVidia itself? No, I haven't. I thought the ones from LaptopVideo2Go were preferred. Hmmm. I suppose I could check them out.

They were preferred, but that was when nvidia didnt offer Mobile drivers direct. Now, they offer official notebook drivers. So, i would suggest that, since *again* they are officially from nvidia - when laptopvideotogo.com arent. ;)

I would always prefer official drivers from the manufacturer.

I picked up 70 points in 3dmark06 by switching from the nvidia 179.28 driver to the laptopvideo2go 181.00 driver.

Hmmm. 180.70 is working fine for gaming, haven't had the screen weird out yet, but....I don't think the sleep issue is resolved. In Ubuntu right now, so I'll check in a bit. Thanks for the comments! It helps to know what people have for drivers, and how they perform.

Do you notice that the 180.70 driver gives better performance than the Dell driver? I'm perfectly content with the official Dell driver since it has been rock stable for me (175.97).

Hmmm. Couldn't say. But the Dell driver I get assigned is 156.69 or something.

Hmm, that's odd that they'd recommend such an outdated driver still. In that case, I wish you the best of luck finding a good one at lv2g!
