Hi, Im currently running the 186.03 official nvidia notebok drivers. I am not happy with them as they seem to be causing problems with my fan controller. I have heard a couple of people mention fan problems with the 186.xx series of drivers and as the current official driver on nvidias site is also a 186.xx driver, I was hoping for some suggestions on a good/stable driver.
This is for the 8800m gtx in the old alienware m15x.

You should try the latest driver first. Don't assume it won't work for you.

I only had powermizer issues with 186.82 but 186.81 has been fine, I recommend you try that.

If you're interested in CUDA 2.3 (the new CUFFT library is much more efficient at single-precision transforms, the main reason I upgraded - improved performance in SETI@Home GPU crunching), the beta 190.38 notebook drivers have support for it.

Otherwise, it's best to stick to the latest stable release, 186.81.
