hi i have a HP DV6-2044CA with AMD M880G w/ ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200.

currently, i have an oem driver installed which is 8.635

online, (game.amd.com) there is a new driver (not oem) and its version is 8.69, and clearly, the amd one is newer.
even though it's not oem supported, i still want to install it anyway. cause hp will most likely ditch this driver...

but the problem is when i download it (the separate and full package), i run the Custom Installer to see what is up to date and what is not, and it says that my 8.635 is fully up to date...

and i have no way around this to forcefully install the 8.69 driver.
so the question is, how can i install the 8.69 driver ?

    Thanks!

Or uninstall the older driver first. (make sure you have a back up copy of the older driver, in case, too)

hey guys thanks for your answers

how can i "mobility-mod" it? and is it safe?

@namaiki: after posting this thread i went to the updating drivers thread and found that you had to uninstall the older driver first. and i did, (the screen went weird, and the resolution turned into a square in the middle of the screen) but still after running the Install manager, no luck.. in fact it doesnt even say that my graphics card is updated anymore..
no signs of Display Driver.. in the "Compenents to install" list

so now i'm trying to manually update it by using the Have Disk option that i found in the thread..

the problem is i went to "C:/ATI/Support/10-1_vista64_Win7_64_dd/Packages/drivers/display/W76_INF/ there is a C7_94918.inf file and a CH_94918.inf file

i do not knwo which one to choose

but i went ahead and chose the C7 file and when i was choosing my model, all i saw was "ATI Radeon HD 4200" without the mobility or the AMD M880G

does this mean this driver 8.69 is incompatible with my AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200?
even with mobility modding, on hardwareheaven's website, it has no signs of supporting my graphics card

hey thaanks yeah im trying that, but just above the download button, it shows a list of supported hardware and my gfx card isnt on that list...

EDIT: one more weird tihng, after modifying the latest full suite, and i run setup.exe, and do custom installing, in the checkboxes, i dont see Display Driver anymore...

Mobility modder doesnt support 10.1 yet, so i would wait a for a newer version.
