.... Is possible but only under Linux?

So I am messing around with my Arch install and decided to hook up my 2 monitors and to my surprise my laptop can drive it's own LCD (1366x768) and extend desktop to 2 external monitors (1920x1080) With no problem at all! What is this wizardry!?! After 3 years the 1564 still manages to surprise me. :D It can NEVER do this using Catalyst under Windows 8!
I have to say that I'm running the open source driver on Linux, I had no idea it was more feature complete than on some levels than the Windows closed source one. I am impressed.

It is still a little early to switch to running linux full time for me so is there ANY way to convince AMD's Catalyst developers to lift this restriction in the Windows driver? It's in place for I don't know what? Annoy users? Is there something else I'm missing? A (somewhat) hidden setting perhaps?

PS: wasn't exactly sure where to post this since it includes graphic cards/drivers, linux and windows so move the topic around the forum if needed please.
