Dual. My overclocked 8600M GT can beat a stock 9600M GT.

    So...an overclocked 9600gt crushes an average 8600gt?

Also, I would maybe go 9600gt. dual cards is only used in some games, produces more heat, and gives less battery life. What about like an asus with a 9700m gt??

a dual 8600M GT will not give you enough of a performance increase over a 9600M GT to justify having to put up with the cons of SLI. Not mention old vs new tech.

Neither. 1 8800 or 9800 will crush both.

Don't waste your money on a system with dual 8600M GT's. Just purchase a system with an 8800M GTX or a 9700 GT.

dual 8600m gtwill perform 40% faster than a 9600m gt. But make sure they're the ddr3 version of the card, otherwise its not really worth it.

or you could go for a gateway 7811 fx, the gpu in that will pwn both, plus its probably cheaper.

from what i heard about crysis (cant tell from experiance dont have dual gpus) it doesnt use dual gpus. so the 9600m gt would be better. not sure about the crysis no use dual gpu though, you may wanna fact check me.

You 100% sure of your source on those numbers? I am not saying you are wrong. Just want to know how sure you are.

Ok I had a toshiba x205 sli1 with dual 8600m gt. And now I have the Toshiba x305 q701 with a single 9700m gts. Comparing the two I would say that the 9700m gts is probably 30% more powerful than the dual 8600m gt sli setup. Also it's feels lighter since only one card and right now on my X305 I can game on battery without losing frames per second in my games. I get very high frames per second consistenly until my battery gives the 10 percent warning and it doesn't down clock at all. I couldn't do that with the dual 8600m gt setup. I'd have to be by an outlet and plugged in to keep good performance gaming. Well I'm pretty sure the 9600m gt is considerably less powerful than the 9700m gts so I'm thinking it'll probably be 10% less powerful than a dual 8600m gt setup. Go for the x305 it's a nice system for 1400 bucks or the gateway, you won't regret either one.
