right please stick to topic as the last thread i made ended with a PC vs Console war.
simple question: what are Dual 8700's like compared to say a PS3 running UT3 on a standard TV, will it be better? or worse?

You should be able to play on max settings at like 60 fps in 1440x900 or even 1920x1080. You also have the ability to move around with the laptop. I know this is true with dual 7950 GTXs. The 8700s are pretty much the same now.

from what i have heard dual 8700's are not as good as a single 7950 so how would 2 be as good as two 7950's?
also i mean graphics wise wil lthe picture quality be as good or better then UT3 for say PS3? or will it look worse? -
Probably better. For one thing, you will likely be playing at a higher true res on a computer (unless you have a native 1080p TV).
-

nope no 1080p TV, so i will see an improvment?
-
As long as you run your PC with medium-high settings at a res above 1280X720, it should look better.

also long as the resolution never goes above 1440x900 they should be better.

ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
why cant it go above 1440x900? can it handle anything above 1440x900?
-
Above that res, you risk unacceptably low framerates. At least that is what I bet he is referring to.

what about on older games? such as Far Cry?
-
Of course, older games will generally speaking run better. Of course, they also have lower graphical quality, in general.

okay what about the following games play, could ya give Low, Med, Max rating with them^^ some old and some new
STALKER
medievil 2
civ4
gears of war
unreal tournament 3
painkiller overdose
FEAR
Age of Empires 3
Command and Conquer 3
Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War.
The Orange Box
im guessing Crysis would be medium? with say avage 30+ FPS? on the res 1 below 1900 x 1200 -
Personally Id rather buy a 8800 GTS/X than 8700 SLI
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
well as i want to upgrade too dual 8800 in say 6-12months and there only a few laptops with 8800 SLI capabilities and only 1 within my price range^^
-
Superior graphics processing power with much lesser heat production and lesser (battery) power consumption!

*= SLI is not guaranteed to work on every game. Actually very few games (Quake Wars Territories, for example) can use it effectively. Personally I'd go with a single 8800m that SLI'ed 8700's. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
so if Gears of war can do it on high, then the rest should be able to handle MAX?
and as ive stated this, would be a long term plan, to upgrade to dual 8800m's in the future 6-12months when the cost of them will have hopfully come down a bit.
im looking at it as a marathon rather then a sprint^^ -
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
otherwise i would.
do you think it would be posisble to buy one second hand with a single 8800m? or is it that its not compatiable or something on its own? -
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
what about Battlefield 2142 and COD 4? low, med or high?
-
All lowest settings, 320x240 resolution.
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
looks like ill have to hold off getting them until i upgrade. -
My desktop 6800 can play COD4 maxed out a 1024x768 with minimal stutter (no AA/AF).... stop underestimating today's technology... as I've said before, **** the future... a single 8800M GTX is still WAY too powerful... and a 8700M SLi config should be similar....
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
well looks like they are back on the list, how can it be too powerful >< -
YYOOUU MMAAKKEE MMEE PPUULLLL MMYY HHAAIIRR OOUUTT !!!! Stop with all the questions... it just is!!
And every game is NOT Crysis... get that straight!
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
right okay. no more questions
ive decided im going with the m1730, do you think ive made the right chocie? lol (joking) -
Configuration.... ?
