Hi, I'm planning on getting This laptop for my editing + gaming needs.
GTX 1060 6GB
I mainly play Dota 2 and some Battlefield. Not looking for AAA games nor demanding FPS.
I want to take advantage of g-sync and IPS color reproduction for editing.
I want to run 2x 24" or 27" with different resolutions and different refresh rates.
A) 27" = 1440p IPS 60hz + 1080p TN 144hz
B) 24" = 1440p IPS 60hz + 1080p TN 144hz
C) 24" = 1080p IPS 60Hz + 1080p TN 144hz
The main gaming high refresh is going to be on the Display Port, the other one in HDMI.
Is this possible?

A and B are equal.
The question is whether you want 1440p or 1080p. You should be able to run Dota2 and Battlefield (adjusted settings) without any problems while taking advantage of G-Sync.
Yes, it is possible to run different refresh rates, using different ports.
Pick whatever your budget can handle
edit: A would be my personal preference0meg4 likes this. -
Yeah, i know A-B are equal, added smaller resolution just in case the GPU couldn't handle those.
I do want both 1440 and 1080.
I'd rather have both in 1440p, but those 27" IPS 144hz are too expensive.
So, you think GTX 1060 6GB will be able to put decent framerates on the 1080p Gsync with no issue? (don't mind playing on "not" ultra settings) -
But, keep in mind that gaming in 1440p requires quite the power, especially if you want to utilize 144Hz (thus 144FPS+).
You can check some benchmarks done in 1080p and 4k resolution using the 1060M right at NotebookCheck.Net -
2k is going to be only for movies / photoshop.
The gaming is going to be only on 1080p, thus 144hz.
Yeah, im quite aware that at 1080@144hz mid/high graphics, i'll get good gaming performance.
My concern is if its going to be capable of powering 1 screen 1080@144hz and the other one with web browsing/movie 1440@60hz.
In advance, really thankful for your help. -
- I noticed the laptop sports a USB-C and a Mini Displayport, and an HDMI 2.0 port, so you are good to go.
Just make sure to get a monitor that supports G-Sync, if you want to utilize that functionality.0meg4 likes this. -
But just stick with the p because k resolutions really make no sense. 2K is technically slightly wider cinema standard 1080p and is called that because of the number of horizontal pixels.
I run 4K 60 and 1440p 165Hz all the time, no issues, you'll be fine!0meg4 likes this. -
What laptop are you using?
