I bet it's because they have to remove something in the game that Australia or Germany don't like.

Looks like DNF is giving the vaporware legacy one last hurrah!

 

Wow, they've known it's an issue for 8 years and still not much happening. Ah well, I'll leave the comment at that. Funny comments in the article though!

 

I think it's shameful how Gearbox is trying to take all the glory for Duke Nukem.

Every blog I've read from 3D Realms developers have implied the games was nearly done. Even after 2K Games tried to shut them down, the developers claimed they continued to work on it at home into a near complete state.

I have a feeling, Gearbox are spending all their time to get it to run better on Console and probably at the same time, nuke the PC version.

Wikipedia claims the co-creator of Duke Nukem and his team who continued to work on DNF after Take Two's lawsuits, they became internal development team at Gearbox. So that is one good news about the game. Haha, maybe they are the reason for the delays?

They probably can, it's easy to do.

You just create an option in the game that allows players to reduce gore and vulgar language. But for the German/Australian version, you just make that fixed, not optional.

A lot of things are easily done, but due to budget, laziness, or whatever reasons, they seemed to be skipped. It's probably somewhere up there with why game developers poop on saves and continue with these lame checkpoints.

 

I just hope it comes out before I deploy...Duke Nukem was my first computer game on my 286.

 

Sigh. After all this time, and they will eliminate some parts of it because of a couple specific markets, that's just idiotic. The beauty of games is that you can modify them for different markets. Force no gore for certain markets that require it but leave it an option for everywhere else.

I think it's because most games have the main character being the "morale center of the universe". You're the good guy and you have to save the world according to the Geneva Convention.

Where as Duke Nukem is a total Badas* and lets everyone know it. He gets the job done anyway necessary, while insulting everything he kills, and then goes home and nails the babes.

 

And his voice makes him sound like he's... Well, I'll just say like he's always very entertained.
