I feel guilty guys, i like the game. Im halfway in the hooverdam section with the 4x4 and until here i had a blast with the game. Is linear, easy, fun. At least its an fps that doesnt ask for some excessive brain work.
It works like a stress relief lol. Also im playing it in tandem with original Duke3d + HRP mod.

Seriously Game Branded Condoms.... wow.
At any rate I know this game has a mixed reception, but I think I am going to do my first "lets play" series on it since it seems fun to play and its not too long and has a clear direction.
The uncouth humor should make for an entertaining watch even if I am notand for those that do not want to buy or play the game, they can just watch me play instead.

I could always sensor the video as well if needed, but that would ruin all the fun. -

I had completely forgotten about that plus 18 tag you could put on. Well looking forward to seeing the playthrough

All that bouncy R-rated content looks pretty good with 3D Vision.

Starting to get the hang of live commentary now on Episode 3 also figured out why youtube was giving me the grey screen of death on my uploads (B-Pyramid)

Got mine last night at midnight but couldn't play till today and my laptop is deciding to have the gpu overheat a bunch. Low settings and res sucks. The game kicked even getting up to fixing the reactor after 20 minutes. I *loved* messing with the rc car.

Different country has different terms. I have had videos blocked several times for viewers in other countries.
Im not the only LP (though I am the only one with 1080P so far I think) but I am going to roll with it.
Next game wont be so vulgar -
Only the console version of DNF runs like crap, PC is buttery smooth with all on ultra, 1920x1080 with AA and the crap disabled.
(Hate motion blur with a passion.)
Thumbs up btw. ;3 -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I have everything on AA & Blur included. The blur is a bit strong at times making it hard to see but its a neat effect ep3 just finally got done processing it took forever.

Damn, super slow 1080p loads... wish I could make it faster.
edit: Vicious, I wish I hadn't bought the game now, should have just watched you. More entertaining that way! lol. -

That is really half the reason I picked this game. Its actually pretty fun to watch even if its not great to own. For those that want to enjoy the humor but not have to dedicate themselves to a half castrated fps game they can just grab the popcorn and a beer and load up my playlist.
@1080P yeah youtube 1080p is always so slow!! I usually watch in 720P even if somebody has a 1080p version (not many people do) but uploading in 1080p does give better quality and if you download the video instead of streaming it (tons of firefox add-ons to do this) then its faster than streaming and you can just watch it on your native player with no buffering/streaming issues. -
Yeah I ended up downloading in 720p. My 3.5 yr old wanted to watch it with me so had to screen it very carefully. At least the beginning wasn't too bad. He was laughing so hard at throwing poop. I was too. So funny. "What kind of sick mf picks up and throws feces"... lol.

....well, the critics have set out to destroy this game so that no one ever touches it. Apparently critics were expecting the next Mass Effect or something. I remember playing the first Duke 3D...graphics sucked then too, but I wasn't playing it for the super cool hi-def 3D graphics.....It as for the one-liners and comedy....I am still pretty willing to try this game out for myself because critics lately just don't make any sense. What were you expecting, critics? It's just a Duke First Person Shooter...not Battlefield 3 or another Call of Duty game.
To me, the same critics were wrong about Crysis 2. Critics are forgetting that they are supposed to critique to an audience, not their own specific tastes in video games. You don't give an rpg critic an fps game to review, they will hate it. -
^This. I feel like some people are forgetting exactly what a Duke Nukem game is supposed to be all about.
-
2 weapon limit? Sounds alot like CoD to me.
it didn't go back to the roots. -
Watching Heartbreak Ridge (once again).
I'm pretty sure Thomas Highway is Duke's father. -
"Take your pills...er...vitamins every day and you might grow up to be as awesome as me."
imvho gearbox forgot to take their pills. what a waste.... totality destroyed duke reputation. really... 2 weapons? ... !?
major disappointment. duke 3d is still a better game then this. -
This is a very honest, and entertaining video review of DNF. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the first one.

I'm saving my money, for what it's worth. -
I'm actually quite enjoying it. Seems like a mix of Resistance (one of my favorite console FPS) and the old Duke Nukem. I've been playing it on the hardest settings, 7 hours into it right now, and it's been proving slightly difficult, but not too bad.
While the 2 gun system is inconvenient I don't find it to be taking away from the game play too much. Do I like it? No, but I don't have a problem finding guns that I enjoy using throughout any of the levels (The shotty is in pretty much every level, and that's all I ever really need).
The turret sequences suck, and the puzzle delay my shooting things which I don't like too much. I also don't like the driving parts. However, despite these things I'm still having fun playing the game. -
Always bet on Duke. ;3

I think the game is fun because of the jokes. Its actually not a bad game just to play for fun. Only been waiting since I played it on my 486
-
I think it sucks. I made it about a hour in on my first try and haven't been back since. I cannot recall when I felt like I had been so ripped off on a game. And please don't bother saying I don't know what duke is about. I actually bought another pc so my and my kids and I could play together when the original came out. I have nothing good to say and a whole lot of bad so I'm not going to do it as its been done to death. My last word on this... we should be able to file a class action lawsuit and get both our money back and also punitive damages for mental cruelty. FAIL!

They pretty much gave it a facelift and a few other things, but beyond that... if they really wanted to improve the game, I think completely starting over would have been best. once they told us they were picking up the pieces.. should have been no surprise to anyone. -

You should defenetly check out his W T F is series, very entertaining and he gives a good an honest opinion on different games and topics

6 hours means he didn't explore anything and just ran through the levels. I completed it in 12 hours, and found most of the hidden stuff.
-
-
Just completed it and it took me over 6 hours, I loved every minute of it.
-
This game looks like fun but it is outdone by so many other current and older games that I won't be buying it at all unless it costs £5 or less.
-
I've been playing PC FPS's ever since Half-Life. I'm a bit young to say that I hadn't played the original Duke Nukem 3d. But I've played many FPS's in my short days and I might as well through out my opinion.
The Game is short. I played it all in one sitting. Though I probably played for 6-7 hours before beating the game, this is HL2: Episode 2 length. Not acceptable for how many years in development.
The Level Design is linear. I'm shocked by just how linear it is to the point of frustration. Compared to Doom/Doom2/Duke Nukem 3d this is a COD spam fest through what Gearbox wanted you to do.
The Weapons are bland. This is a huge thing for any FPS. As typical genre the shotgun is the best weapon in the game for close and medium range. The railgun for distance. The shrink and freeze guns were decent fun but their experiences were very small. There really wasn't a weapon that I just said Holy **** when I fired. Also the game forces you to use whatever weapon they want due to guns like the railgun only having 12 shots. As a quake 3/quake live player I would've just used the railgun for the entire game.
The Minigames are pretty sweet. Maybe they are distractions for the other problems in the game but I spent time playing every one. Though I could've sworn Duke was all about the shooting. Who wants to shoot stuff in a Duke Nukem game though?
To sum up my wall of text I will simply compare this game to others so would be buyers would get a better idea. This game feels like they crossed Half-Life 2 with Duke Nukem. The puzzles can be similar, the vehicles feel similar and even the linearity of it can get on your nerves(HL2 wasn't as linear as DNF). Either way I actually managed to play through this entire game unlike Far Cry/Far Cry 2/Super Mario Galaxy. Unlike Far Cry their is a decent enough story line that makes you want to play the game and you can actually fire a gun. Far Cry 2 has you being some random guys intern collecting random crap which is similar to DNF early on. I can't stand Super Mario Galaxy's Camera angles and it pains me as much playing DNF trying to make it fun even though there are things to prevent my fun.
Though I managed to pick up the game for free, It is a serviceable game. I'd say it was a 3/5 and that it is worth picking up for $30. -
I tried this game earlier today and I'm severely disappointed.
Had great hopes for this game but unfortunately it tarnished the image of the franchise for me -
I'm about 14 hours in, probably close to completing the game. More like 13 as I had to pause the game for an hour to do some things. I genuinely am having a great time with this game and I'm a Duke fan since the original side-scrollers and loved every minute of 3D. It may not be perfect and I don't think any game is but I think it's a great epic game judging by how much I've played so far. The PC Balls of Steel Edition was totally worth it IMO.

My LP is up to 10 episodes now and about 1/2 through the game.
The last area was really fun and felt more fun than a lot of the other areas so far. Graphics still look good to me, got the hang of the semi strange aiming needed to hit things on the move.
Since I am serious about the LP thing I created a facebook page and a twitter account to have people follow for update and to ask questions and give feedback in addition to just my youtube channel (and added them to my sig)Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2015 -
I try demo with ultra and I am all time over 40fps
sometimes drop to 37fps
with grain and post effect off (sharper picture) and with AAA 40-50 fps -

I just beat it today. I can tell you exactly how long it took me to beat it once I upload the last of my videos because youtube tells you the length of my playlist.
Was 21 episodes ranging from 15 minutes to about 30. So I estimate about 7 hours for me to beat it.
I could have done it faster by running through and not looking for all the hidden areas, and I could have gone slower to explore everything and beat all the mini-games.
I enjoyed the game and it had some memorable moments and tag lines. Some pretty cool parodies of other games and I always love parodies and also some cool music here and there.
People bash the graphics but I think it looks pretty darn good all maxed out on PC, very similar to Doom 3 to me. -
-
Its a fun game. I cant believe the "expert" reviewers said the game was too immature, offensive, and childish! It's a video game, supposed to be an escape from reality and thats exactly what it is. Sometimes games like COD and MOH are too realistic for me(I still love 'em) but games like Duke Nukem are what video games are all about in my opinion, LOVE IT!!!! With my modded 2xGTX280M Area 51 M17x Im averaging 45-50 fps max settings lowest AA setting.
