I'm certain there was a thread about this, but I can't seem to find it now. Anyway, Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO) is going free play to play, which means that it is going to be solely supported by microtransactions.

With a paid subscription, you get shared bank space, more character slots, and (rumor has it) better loot, as well as other perks. You can get a detailed breakdown HERE (click link), while you can also read the following short excerpt :

Anyhow, the original date when DDO was to be released as a free to play MMO has changed. It was August 6, 2009. The new release date is set for September 9, 2009. You can sign up for the BETA (click link), although the F2P date is just around the corner so your mileage will vary.

Interesting, I had a bit of fun with the free trial but never thought it was worth spending the money, but now I guess I'll give a free account a shot.
