Rumor: Peter Moore replacing John Riccitiello as Electronic Arts CEO | Digital Trends

Eh, when you create something as terrible as SWTOR, there are bound to be consequences. And it seems he switched EA's focus from PC/Console games to mobile games for Android/iOS, which proved in spades, to not nearly as profitable. Geez, who would have guessed $1-$5 javascript games wouldn't make up for losses in shrinking console/PC game development?

I wonder who Peter Moore is. I think the big issues is that these execs at these large publishing companies don't play games. They just make assumptions of what gamers will like. Oh look, WoW is really popular. Let's make one too, but without having actually played WoW and to know what is attractive about it. Oh look, everyone likes LoL, we should make one too, again, without having experienced the game. I only come to these conclusions because when playing some of these disastrous games, that's the impression I get, I ask myself, what the blip were these morons thinking when they developed this crud? No way a gamer could possibly have thought this would have been a good idea.

But this switch in leadership does not appear to be a positive. Well according to the above's opinion, we'll just have more gimicky cross platform BS to look forward to, probably more restrictive DRM to protect their gimmicks like social media crud, instead of good game content. And hooray for more paying full price for half the game and paying twice that later to get the other half of the game.

There's an interesting article about him on Kotaku. Arguably biased, but it does provide some more insight into what he was like as a person and his ideas. Including that he does seem to have some credentials in terms of actually playing games.

It'll be interesting to hear what more comes out about this in the coming weeks.
