Well STEAM has a monopoly because it is the best when it comes to online legal game downloads.
So far, it's been the best implemented game download service and community.
STEAM is just great, especially when it comes to socializing with other gamers. -
Everything about STEAM is great except the prices. Unless you're getting a deal from them from their regular weekend deals, you're pretty much getting screwed on the prices front.
-
that's why it's a problem that steam is a monopoly. But then again all you have to do is buy the game separately (the dvd-rom) if it's on sale and just add the cd-key to steam so you can play it. Therefore you wouldn't have to deal with the higher prices steam charges.
-
Now to await the final merging of the two world's powers, marked by the release of the ENTIRE SIMS AND SIMS 2 CATALOG ON STEAM! Expect an extremely long list of "NEW GAMES" that day, as well as bazillion of extra $$$ for both Valve and EA.
THE APOCALYPSE IS NIGH! -
I really wish buying online provided discounts. Bandwidth costs a lot less than the physical discs and packaging+delivery to stores. Grrr...
-
Yes, but STEAM probably charges more than it costs to produce the packaging

You wanna see a monopoly look at this evil company known as EA now THAT is a monopoly i hope no one buys there games..... -
-
If DD games went up on the same day as in stores, at lower prices, retailers would go bananas.
