Does it use the same code as EADM? I don't trust that thing on my PC.

I'm not sure, last time I used it was around the time Spore was released and there were a few alarming complaints of EADM deleting all the games associated with it instead of just the one a user wanted uninstalled. There was even one complaint that it deleted everything in Program Files.

I am not saying that you leave STEAM....

This software is VERY useful for people that buy Hard Copies of Games since even if you lose your Discs you can download it legally from the net.

That is partially true, at most. While this Steam-clone (aka Origin) is not like the traditional EADM, where you had to pay like $5 for a re-download, this clone claims that they guarantee the game can be downloaded up to... 1 year after realease... ? Essentially, if I understand correctly, they may just take it out or (maybe in the future) charge you for downloading from their unused servers.

In any case I don't like, especially when having Steam (or D2D for this matter) around, where you can re-download anytime as much as you like it.

    Just my 2 cents.

Then you continue to use Steam. :D
I choose to buy my games at the EA Store, now remaned to Origin because they are way cheaper than what Steam wants.
I bet its different in the US but here in Europe Steam still overcharges.
Its even cheaper at GameStop here and they overprice like its no tommorow.

This is cool I guess. I have a few retail ea games that I can now download if I have to. still think steam is better.

as a competitor for steam it will fail miserably. however... for the retail purchaser this is absolutely brilliant and will definitely put it a step ahead of activision.

This is where I read it: source.

Read the 3rd comment. The guy claims he has read the FAQs of Origin.

And please note that the last sentence you bolded is pure conjecture from my part.

Well according to Wikipedia which directs to EA forums.

The 1 Year download limit is already false.

I read terms that said up to 2 years they would hold my game when they changed the terms a few years ago.

I had Battlefield 2, Mirrors Edge and a few others.

I heeded the warning and backed up my games locally but last year when I went to go d/l BF2 I was still able to get it off EADM without having any issues.

But I am pretty sure there is or atleast WAS some terms and conditions they forced you to agree with that states they are only holding your game for you as a digital download as a courtesy and they have rights to take it away at any time after X year(s) have passed and can charge you a fee if you wish to download it again after that point.

If anything they changed this because they knew Steam would own there sales if they did not stay competitive.
