Another one bites the dust? Anyone already tried EA Origin?. I know Steam is not perfect, but... is year 2011, there IS already an advanced gaming marketplace/comunity who sets some standars which you can at least check if you can make a competitive marketplace on your own... The EA marketplace is FULL of bugs. Beginning with the avatar selection and ending with the locale scheme used.
I'm based on Paraguay, south america... and I don't know WHY EA is charging me in EUROS. I know I would't see my local currency, but if the just care A LITTLE, the would charge me in US Dollars, which is the most used here on south america for international transactions. WE ARE NOT part of the European Union. Steam charges me in US$. Amazon charges me in US$.
AND, to make it worse, you CAN'T CHANGE that. You CAN'T CHANGE your locale. You can select language, but it only works for the option menu. Everything else is based on your locale, which you CAN'T change. I didn't buy anything yet on Origin (and I WONT do it ever), but I believe even the games language would be Spanish for me according to my locale... and I love my games on English.
EA Origin, can't you just take A PEEK at Steam and COPY what IS GOOD?
Sorry Origin, in my opinion, you are a big FAIL.

Well, it is really disappointing they had so little care on switching currencies. Definitely anywhere in America US dollars should be the first option over euros.
-
On my EA account when i activate keys, or install games it asks me what version i want to register and also what language i want.
Switching currencies is a no go on the Origin webstore, but that also applies to Steam for me.
Steam forces me to pay in Euros, while Origin accepts my local currency.
In the end you get to choose what to nuy from.
Nobody is forcing you to buy from Steam, GoG, Impulse, Direct2Drive, Origin, UbiSoft's own store and i guess THQ got one too? lol
(My favorites are bolded.) -
All the major box publishers have started their own online store which makes sense, just wondering what's taking them all so long. In the end though, Steam, D2D, and GoG will be the major online publishers because they sell other brand products, not just their own. Unless you have no other choice, I would not buy from any of the publisher's own site. I have passed up on some good EA deals because I refuse to deal with their broken system. IMHO, they are a decade late.
Although I was just thinking, it's so ironic. For years, decades actually, the big box pubs constantly were against making digital copies, use of no-CD keys, etc. Now everything IS digital and doesn't require any hardware media to run. -

I get to choose the same languages as the retail release.
Some games also release in Norwegian, but id rather use the English release.
But i understand why you get upset with only getting to use Euros instead of US Dollars.
Thats just dumb on EAs part.
Have you tried contacting them regarding this?
Offtopic: My first post with the 3DS browser. º_º -
So, My conclusion is EA doesn't care about south america, just like Apple. And just like Apple, I won't buy from them anymore. -
So glad EAs European division aint that lame. -
