Is there any way I can make the way this game plays a bit more stable? Let me explain. Please note that I do not go online. I am running a Dell Inspiron 1520, 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT, T7110 processor (Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz) 2GB RAM.

Sometimes, I can play at the highest graphics level for the first 10 minutes of a game without any problems. After that, it gets quite choppy to the point where I have to bring the settings down really low to notice any improvement in game speed.

Other times, no matter where I place the graphics sliders, it doesn't help with performance.

It gets really annoying when you're in control of the puck and all of a sudden, the game slows down to a crawl and you can no longer pull any dekes let alone shoot.

Also, at the beginning of each game, at the cut scenes, the frame usually freezes right before the next cut scene.

Is this normal? I think that if I can run at full graphics for the first few minutes of a game, I should be able to continue doing so until the end, no? I always find myself having to move around the sliders during the game. Even if they are down low, I feel as if I actually gain performance by moving them up.

Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone have a solution? I am completely open to tweaking my notebook to run NHL 08 better.

What drivers are you using? I'm using the 169.21 drivers from laptopvideo2go.com and this game runs fine at high settings. It's been running fine since the 163.xx drivers a while back.

    I'm using 169.25.

Does anyone have a clue as to what's going on? The choppiness and slowing down gets very annoying.

Does the PC version have the same graphics as the 360/PS3 version? Just asking, cause 07 was lame on PC.
    I have a 360 :)

I think the graphics are much better for Xbox 360.

Yes, the PC version is awful and has a poor graphics.. The entire sport serial (FIFA, NBA, NHL) is horrible this year for PC, while for PS3 and Xbox 360 is really great, especially NBA. My friend has a 360 and I can say that NBA is much better, not only in graphics and gameplay, but in everything.
