To quote from the e-mail I recently received:
though it's not clear that people who registered on the old NWN's forum are the only ones affected.
Interestingly, I just started playing Darkspore, which requires an EA account to logon and play, and I've yet to receive a confirmation response to my request for a new password, so I'm locked out.
All in all, pretty bad publicity for EA/Origin and more ammunition against the (likely unstoppable) march of requiring all games to have online verification...
-
I just got the same email. I never played NWN, so I'm REALLY hoping that only those people were effected.
-
Hope mainstream news media doesn't see this, foxnews is having alot of fun blaming "LulzSec" group for any and all hacking recently.
-
The email looked somewhat suspect to me... It arrived in my spam folder to boot.
-
Never got the email either, all EA games work fine for me.
-
I got the email too which indicated it was their old forums, but the only game I had registered with BioWare on there was KotOR. So far it seems it's only limited to that specific forum so I'm not worried about my EA account being hacked.

Hmm, i got this mail today too. I dont own NVN either but i have had an EA account. Im wondering which hack group did it this time....
-
same has been reported over at RPS..
-
These hacker pigs need to be disconnected from the internet.

Indeed, i found it quite funny that a Hacker group called TeamP0isoN has hacked LuLzsec and has threatened to show CIA their phone number, addresses and names :O That might end a lot of the bad stuff that lulzsec does... -
I don't know about you but I consider email addresses, mailing addresses, names, phone numbers, and birth dates to be sensitive data.
-
I changed my password just to be safe anyway.
My account date back to 2009 so dident really hurt to change my ancient password to my new "hard to remember" one.
Guess the so called "hackers" enjoy stalking old servers. -

+1 ... I think unless there is a confirmation from EA it maybe like the Blizzard account scam
EDIT: Regardless I actually got one of these Emails but I dunno should I click the link in it or just log in my account the normal way & change the password just to be safe ??? -
Thank God I deleted everything ( except my name ) from EA a day after the EA/VALVe confusion...
I don't use CC in online purchases, so I'm fine
I'll start using "Hogwarts school" as my address... It's very believeable... -
This has already been reported since a few days ago.

Yeah its quite a thrill to follow the whole process : ) -
team poison and lulzsec are really working together but they make it seem like that team poison is taking out lulzsec but in reality they are both hacking the world! cept my computer i have firewall
(firewall thing is a joke btw)
-
The Happy Swede Notebook Evangelist
Well they have a common goal to hack different places, but as mentioned in the article TeamP0isoN has gotten mad at Lulzsec and is probably gonna reveal them... But i doubt anyone can feel safe these days
-
True but all you gotta do is be expertly trained in hacking and all of that and if you get hacked just hack them back and give their names to the authorities or something and get big cash lol
-
The Happy Swede Notebook Evangelist
Yeah, im really excited to see what happens next
-
They all will be catched (silently) and end working on great corporations or CIA or something... most of them earning $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
-
have you ever seen live free or die hard? this is what will happen

Bah all these site hacks recently. I guess I am really going to have to start using different passwords and maybe user names for new sites/places.
-
The Happy Swede Notebook Evangelist
Yeah alot of people say that, but one can only speculate... -
my thoughts exactly. it took me a good 10min to come up with a new password that i can remember and is comparable in strength to my old one. and now, im not sure if i can
-
Frank Abignale Jr. works for the CIA making big bucks after his whole escapade. This probably won't be any different, if they cooperate.

Just use a master-list with one crazy long password (a sentence, for instance).
If you use something like KeePass to store usernames and passwords, it'll auto generate extremely strong passwords for you, and copy them to the clipboard too. Then you've only got to remember one password, and all the rest can be right on your desktop.
Plus, it works on android (right in your pocket)! -
TBH I won't do much of anything different. I already have all my accounts with completely different passwords all random characters.
I just think the media is running with this like they do with Swine flu or whatever new flu is supposed to kill us all each year.
The hacker groups remind of me of the Taliban in a way. Something will blow up and they are first to claim they did it, when really they probably had nothing to do with it. -
This.
They'll get caught and the CIA/FBI will offer them an ultimatum just like in the TV Series "XIII"'s FBI computer hacker.
Jail
OR
A fixed contract with the CIA/FBI for X amount of years, plus a very generous salary. Wouldn't surprise me if they added an ankle bracelet (tracking device) for the duration of the contract.
