how many ships do you play with?
well if youre playing with 20 plus ships i think you will have a problem even on a desktop.
20-30 fps in this game i would consider ok actually.

720p and low graphics gets such low fps at sea battles with a GTX260M that is overclocked? ._. Pretty sure you can play at a higher graphics settings than that with that card...

The game is probably more concerned with CPU power and number of cores, as opposed to sheer GPU power. The fact that your frame rate is still low after reducing graphic settings, suggests a CPU bottleneck more than anything else.

no its my gpu....it doesn't go below 98% utilization. There are a bunch of ships....maybe 15 on each side

EDIT: crazy thing is i could play 1080p with high graphics with medieval total war and have a castle siege with 4 players on eeach team and still stay above 20fps....this no freakin way lol.

haha i knew it. i told you, with more than 20 ships expect it to crawl.
etw is a much more gpu intensive game than mtw. and the most gpu intensive part of etw are ship battles.
i think you would need a desktop 460 to run that many ships maxxed out at 1080p.
plus etw does use multicores too. so if your on a c2d the cpu could add to your lag.
but with all that being said, 20fps with 30 ships seems like a good framerate imho.

Yeah man. You need a desktop. I play this on 4870x2 with Ultra settings and it drops below 30 fps on those large scale sea battles.
