I have an Asus w3j (x1600) and I just got a new Dell LCD (2007wfp) - I mostly play EQ2 on the lappy and did so today on my brand new monitor for the first time.

I fumbled around a little bit to get the Dell to be the only monitor active and set the res. Everything went well, but tonight i try to play on the laptop (without the external monitor) and I get this error:

EverQuest II has detected an unrecoverable error...

<verify> D:\live\eq2\framework\core\devices\src\DirectX9RenderDevice.cpp(1001): Failed to create D3D device for ATI Mobility Radeon X1600.

Could this be caused by attaching an external monitor and using that as the main monitor for a few hours?

I'm going to try and wipe my drivers and reload, so hopefully that will fix it.

Tech support is USELESSSSSSSSS - their reply is that the game was not designed to run on a laptop. Nice.

Wiped CCC and drivers and reloaded all with latest drivers.

Also deleted UI setting and exe file per FAQ. Fixed. Wished i could delete this thread, but maybe it will help others out?
